So many great flight sims came out in 1999. EAW, Flanker 2.0, Falcon 4.0, Jane's WWII Fighters, etc.

EAW was the game that brought me to SimHQ. I know there are games that out-do it in graphics and detail, but none have drawn me in the way EAW did. I can't get it to run on my current system, however I am looking at getting a new system and will ensure that the hardware will run EAW. I've missed the old girl.

I just upgraded my video card from Nvidia to ATI. Aside from the reason that I wanted to alternate brands from time to time, I also remembered the 7217 error from EAW which (IIRC happens to systems with Nvidia card and drivers). I remember thinking after I got the ATI, "wohoo, I can run EAW now!"

But I have yet to install EAW again and see if the error will still be there.

Please let me know. I posted a thread in the EAW forum.

detailed account is posted on the EAW forum. But don't take my word for it. My patience right now is a bit strained and I just gave up after the second clean install (+the best practices 1.28 etc.) . My experience in trying to run it with Nvidia left me worn out so I just decided to take a "break" after the second clean install failed also.

Thanks for that "memories" video, Jensen.
Euro Air War is alive and well-- with a new World War I add-on called The Western Front "coming soon"
A new 1.28 patch with a and b versions is out. Another 'c' version is "coming soon' also with more goodies.
Notice up to 16 different "skins" flying on each flight-- and the new models are still free of charge. Or paint your own favorite to fly online.
Carrier action in the South Seas is also "coming soon".

We keep the 'old-timey' introduction look of EAW even with the modern new developments-- in honor of the brilliant work of 10 years ago in creating the sim. And, of course, the music you like, created especially for the sim.

Sad that some old NVidia cards won't work for EAW in XP. Years of effort by Mr. Jelly have produced some NVidia work-arounds for error 7217, but they require some effort. See his 'stickies' in the Euro Air War forum.

Oook those screen shots just pushed me over the edge to try a bit harder and make this work biggrin

I'll immediately post an update, if I'm successful.
