All versions of IL2 are compatible with Hyperlobby as far as I'm aware. You will find all sorts of different versions to be in use. The most common ones are standard 4.08, 4.09beta and 4.08beta with modifications. Most servers should have a description of it's version available on their website or through Hyperlobby (clicking on a server shows it's details).

You may want to keep a 'clean' 4.08 install backed up, should you go for 4.09b - or use a version switcher tool as the difference between the two are just a couple files.

I've had the tearing effect a couple of times. Your video card? On Geforce 8800gtx/gt 260 the problem was fixed with "manage 3d settings - threaded optimization ON and Vsync FORCE ON"

Now don't be surprised when the next post here claims that I am entirely wrong... this cure worked on my rig.

First I thought that the problem was TrackIR. No problems there as far as I am concerned!

My advice would be to go to allaircraftarcade.com and download the unified installer. Once you have that installed, you can use the included version switcher to switch between all commonly used versions of IL2.

Good luck and have fun
