I hit the other truck when I was trying to get the screenshot. That sucker went up like a fireworks factory!! I'm sure the explosion was very unrealistic, though, as old trucks with cannons in their beds tend to burn real slow when you strafe them with .303 machine guns. At least thats been my experience.

BTW...those bullet hits look to be about 4 or 5 feet high. Is that too high? I didn't check to see if the ground was wet or dry. Wet ground would not kick up as high as dry. Wet dirt is a lot denser and heavier you see, so the particle velocity would be affected and of course the dust cloud density and volume would be way off. Gosh, I don't know what to do...

I was going to say OOTB, but I can't find a shop with a Box yet

Looking forward to trying this sim, though!

Having given the game a good go it's more than obvious that the developers had about as much passion and pride in this release as your average man has in putting together a cheese and pickle sandwich. Sloppy, drippy, half-arsed, lazy and definitely not cooked (well toasted though). Not even attempted to be finished, just slapped together and dumped out the back door. No, come on chaps, I'm having a good laugh here, imagining them dragging it over to the back door, leading to a dank alleyway, opening it and kicking it out..."Gah on, feck orf attafit, we're done wiv ya!" \:D

Yes, I'm aware of the myriad fixes being posted, I've implemented some myself...but how many are there now? And how time consuming? The one that fixes the propensity for the a/c to fall apart in mid air as soon as they get hit in a wing by a couple of bullets...I've extracted the a/c data files, and see multiple entries for each component that needs to be changed from "HEAVY" or "DESTROYED" to "DISABLED". Gee, you know what, I thought that was what I'd paid my money for, that the guys selling the game were supposed to have done all that...researched the subject, established what bullets generally did to WW1 a/c in flight and somewhat faithfully reproduced it in their game (you know, like what Oleg was able to do out of the box with his WW2 a/c in IL2...or, dare I mention it, the guys who made RB2!).

Shiftless, zero pride...a rather shabby and shonky pile of poorly cobbled together code masquerading as a sim-lite.

So now we'll wait for some hero to spend weeks fixing everything that can be fixed (because we'll soon see how badly the engine will limit that faint hope) and pray it finally gives us something even vaguely close to RB2-3D with super graphics (because FE does at least look gorgeous).

I don't know about not enough pride to even pretend to make an effort making this game, I've got too much pride to bloody well play it's appalling ****eness. \:D

That's my opinion chaps, your mileage may vary (something along the lines of your pride = the glass is half full apparently...ROTFFLMFAO!). ;\)

(By the way, how many of you would take delivery of a brand new car, find paint peeling off it but drive it around anyway, with a big smile on your face whilst declaring "Hey, the wheels ain't falling off...half glass full, yipee!" \:D ).

I don't think that TK is a Cockney ...

you could always wait for the inevitable patch ...

why all the patches since if it was perfect out of the box? :p
& strangely enough there still seems to be rather a lot of disagreement about how accurate things are in Il-2 etc.

Sepp,
keep in mind several things. TK could have waited another year before he put this out. I am glad he did not. He trades great land and sky graphics for lots of AI planes in the air. I prefer that trade. TK's sims are as much about letting modelers haveing fun as anything, so he is just putting out the bare bones. I do have one bone to pick with him. He should allow modelers to do things like start and stop engines and anything their harts want to do. Making it difficult for a ground start mission is a foolish thing to do when the sim you put out is to appeal to modelers.

You might also note that TK and company put this sim out for download at a very resonable price. A price that most simmers can afford.

Another thing to consider is the fact that no anti copy or prirate blocking software was added to this sim. It is just a good old fashion flying sim for those that like to play and those that like to modify. I am sure that at the price point he set and with the simplicity of his download system most will buy rather than copy. Now if all the flying sims came out like this wouldn't that be lovely?

So you have a cool little sim that cost very little, takes up very little drive space, doesn't add strange and dangerous software and gives you the tools to play as is or change in any way you want to make it fit your world.

Yeah, I'm happy with it \:\)

Sepp, then why don't you go play your precious ancient RB3D and IL2 and spare us your whinning?

Your complaints are no more useful, constructive or welcome than the il2 community hatred of cfs3, or any other flight sim for that matter.

TK's sims are a sandbox more than anything. and nothing is really as appalling as you make it out to be.

What? And not let EVERYONE know how much he hates this sim?

Wait a minute, maybe sepp is getting closer to understanding this series, I'm Not picking any sides here, mind you. I know it took me a while to catch on to haveing a modders dream sim. The ability to mod these little jewels is what makes them shine....... maybe he just hasn't quite figured that out yet.
For what its worth, JimC.

I don't know...maybe so you could see your bullet strikes better from the air? My point was and is to show folks new to TKs sims that you don't have to WHINE. You can take matters into your own hands and modify a LOT of things in this sim to your own liking. If I can figure out what does what (mostly by trial and error) so can anyone else. Still some folks will NEVER be satisfied because that is not their intent. Those are easy to spot.
