Same old stuff but a different day. You can fly a good number of helos in ArmA, a Blackshark in the soon to be released Lock On add-on, a Longbow and a few others in Longbow, an Apache and Havoc in EEAH, and a Huey in Whirlwind over Vietnam. So...what would be new stuff? I don't think "Enemy Engaged R-22: Pipeline Patrol", would sell to well (ok...I would probably buy it). lol I for one like the Commanche and Hokum, and I'm sure more helos will be added later (hopefully a Cobra and Apache).

I for one would like to see Comanche removed and replaced with different Apache variants, Kiowa, Cobra and maybe even ARH. I agree. I love to see the Comanche be substituted by the Apache. Comanche ... will never fly in combat. You can't be so sure. The Comanche program has never been terminated. It's in the freeze for the moment. It could stay in the freeze, but they can relaunch the program any minute as well. And a lot of the technology involved in the project has been used in modern (air) combat. So there is no reason to keep it in a simulator. There has been simulators released before which contains uncertain vehicles, which became immens populair. I heard. Just to let you know. But still, I like to see the Comanche been substituted by the Apache. Quite exaggerating your point now... By the way, you know the Comanche and Apache does have laser on board?

I don't see a problem with that. (if the equipment is kept realistic) Sometimes it is not possible (like simulating the flight model of a JSF) but sometimes it is indeed possible (modelling advanced versions on weapons which haven't seen any combat yet.) The problem arises when we are not talking what is going to happen and instead are talking what might have happened, but was axed. Thats revisionism. Sure, LUFT 1946 planes in IL-2 are fun to fly, but they are still something that do not belong in to a serious simulator. Quite exaggerating your point now... By the way, you know the Comanche and Apache does have laser on board? [/quote] Yeah, I know that I was trying to flame a bit :P But LOL, your remark is true ME = PWNED, though I guess you know what kind of lasers I meant.

Yeah..how many years did I play Total Air War or EF2000 or F-117 (MicroProse) before those planes ever made it into production? I'm playing a computer game..so I figure I can suspend my disbelief that extra nth of a percent...

Also, not to stir up the hornets nest any more, but all the campaigns are fictional as well. I dont recall any full blown wars between Blue backed and Red backed forces in any of the provided Theaters using the technology involved.
If it was a "true" simulation then most of the time you would be getting into the Apache (or Hind, Hokum, etc) and flying training missions.
If the "history of the world" is altered enough to allow the war, then why can't the Comanche be there? At least it was a "real" helicopter so hopefully some realism is aparent in the game.
Oh, and I totally agree BeachAV8R. I played F-117 for so many years, it was great game!

I played F-117 for so many years, it was great game! Haha..remember that little "stealth" meter bar that you had to keep down in the blue (or am I thinking of F-19 on the Commodore 64?).. Flying around for hours at low level trying to keep that thing from spiking... We were so easily entertained back then...I'll bet developers wish the technology hadn't developed so fast... Heck..I still occasionally fire up that submarine simulator Red Storm Rising...really basic..but fun as all... BeachAV8R

Yeah it had that bar. when it went over the "safe" line and your blood turned cold, knowing that their was no way you could out fly a enemy fighter. I can't say what colour it was, I only had a "green" screen.
Sorry to everyone for hi-jacking the post.

I for one would like to see Comanche removed and replaced with different Apache variants, Kiowa, Cobra and maybe even ARH. I agree, bring back the apache and kiowa as in Janes' Longbow but updated. And as for future what about the AH-1Z that's a near future helo, that could be simulated. I would love an indepth Cobra sim flying a AH-1W or Z variant doing some combat air support for the troops on the ground, we could have an Iraq theatre, full scale war w/ N Korea or what ever. I want a new hard-core combat helo sim to play on my current system that doesn't require a glide wrapper to have tolerable graphics.

I'm getting tired of people using "sci fi" with regards to using ANY weapon in a game that is not in service, even if it exists and has prototypes sitting in a hangar. There's a difference between "sci fi" and "what if."
Learn it.
There were games featuring the EF2000, Rafale, Gripen, JSF, and F-22 years before any flew. They even had the X-32 in JSF, and that plane lost! Yet all of them sold well and some were considered "serious sims" even though the programs could have been cancelled at any time! The idea that one small group of people's decision to can a program instead of continue it suddenly changes a weapon from "real" to "sci fi" overnight is retarded.

The problem arises when we are not talking what is going to happen and instead are talking what might have happened, but was axed. Good point! You have convinced by this argument. The Comanche should be swapped with the next Apache version! Yeah, I know that I was trying to flame a bit ... Great response! ... though I guess you know what kind of lasers I meant. Yep. Not this one:

You could just pretend you're flying an updated AH-64D with a lower payload when flying the 66...
