Nothing spectacular, but I'm more interested in the avionics, gameplay features and the cockpits.

The Pilots look cartoonish, but did you see the trees in the background?

Here's the things I picked up:

Notice the shiny on all the rounded surfaces. Specular maps. Especially noticable on the pilot's face shields, but its all over the place. There might be bump maps too, a few things have a nice 'roundness' to them, where you'd expect to see polygons.

Ground textures look ok from high up, but then every game's does. From the ground (seen in the pilot shot) they look like poo. As usual. Considering a decent chopper pilot spends most of his time at 10 feet off the deck, I hope they do something about that. Those rivers need some work too... just dont look real, to me.

That tree and bush look sprite based, although I could be wrong. Where's the geometry instancing (remember Far Cry?) with tons of polygonal trees/objects?

Theres a small refinery in the comanche shot. I see 3 oil tanks and a couple towers. The tanks appear to be casting shadows on the ground, although its pretty distant so details are hard to make out.

Notice the individually modelled toggle switches inside the cockpit? Kind of a waste, IMO, but whatever.

Its definately upgraded to DX9 graphics. That should mean its using DX netcode too, hopefully. I'm sure if they hardly changed the game at all, and just updated the engine to modern standards, the community would be more than happy.

It looks like their recycling all the airframe models, at least from the screenshots we've seen so far.

Screenshots and Movies don't tell us jack.

I'd like to see if they've gotten the featureset that was already there in EECH working smoothly.

What WW2 Fighter pilots say about Angels and Airspeed:

"Nice job of getting down to the basics - love your choice of a cover!" Col. Clarence 'Bud' Anderson

"I have enjoyed reading angels and airspeed, it should prove good reading for all interested in combat tactics and their application related to the fluid air environment and state of technology in WWII years. All the best as you make it available." - Col. Charles McGee - Tuskegee Airman

It's probably to early to tell us more about the new sim (?).
Many products showing pics only are in (very?) early stages of development.

Well, I said this before but I think that the EE2 devs should remove the Comanche from the game. It's an extra and unecessary workload in order to model a chopper that will not exist anymore.

I would prefer to see realistic order of battle in EE2.

Not too impressed with the screens above. I think that the Dev-Teams graphics upgrades to EECH (one) are almost par to those above.

Perhaps they made the MP a little better ...

serious misgivings tbh. Hope this is pre alpha or similar otherwise as you say LP, there doesn't seem to be much in it between existing terrain upgrades and this new stuff.

Another thing - new textures on the pilots are very reflective - hardly convincing for textiles. And about the models - it seems nothing has been changed from what we've seen from the cockpit interior and pilots themselves

early days? if so why release pics at all?

(edit - river's an improvement though - assuming we get banked terrain near the waterline)

Looking good so far. My thoughts are along the lines of even if what we're seeing is final terrain wise, if the engine has been updated (assuming it is) the mods should be able to take things further than before.

28fps there too, with no AA by the looks of the jaggies. I'm gonna guess the visuals aren't final yet if those shots come from a high spec comp.

Count me in anyway. I'm itching for a good helo sim. My pre-order will be in the moment it's available.

Looks OK to me too.
It's clearly (partly?) based on the EECH1 engine.
As we've learned from the Devs here, it won't be easy to re-write stuff.
Even IF it turns out to be only a little bit better (or even a bit worse) then what the people here could do with the EECH1 sim, it would be a wellcome addition to anyone's helosim collection.
At least the 'dance' would/might be over for those people that (only) opt for 'EECH2 (or whatever)' in the end.

It looks exactly the same as the original to me, with the exception that the Pilots are now wearing uniforms made out of shiny plastic, so that the light can reflect off them.

I also agree with ricnunes that they should remove the Comanche from the game, for the same reasons that he has stated.

A very good point. I would like a heli sim, but I was put off by the dance. This, i would buy, to get into heli combat.
