Yes, these are "known issues" 43st.... ...no current fix other than to go ultra-real and use dead reconing only. Heh, this is not one you've overlooked. <S!>

Maybe this is why the fold out map is in the box! You think? lol That's what I plan to use.

Well, I hate to say I told you so. Or... no, I don't. Like everyone else using that phrase, I get a kick out of it. As stated in that thread, the included map (approx 1:800.000) is just about useless for proper visual navigation. Now, on to finding a way to produce a high-quality 1:250.000 or perhaps even 1:100.000 based on the game world. Sadly I do not think we're getting that one from the producer or the publisher(s).

Specially on line rigth, pause the game? Mine also works kind of irkishlly.... Luckylly I will be using the real map that came in the box (briliant move for hardcore virtual pilots).. but don´t try to justifie the unjustifiable...The ma in game should work properlly and be usefull, don´t you think?.

I agree - the in game map is not up to speed at all. Funny, in the thread ft posted a link to above, FR is telling us all how great the [sic] scrolling, annotated map will be...
...well, I suppose I can't truthfully say he's wrong; it does have thoes features, and it would be great, if the map overall permitted these faetures to work better. Sometimes it seems the map is centered on my plane, others not. The scale setting doesn't stay after you close the map, it comes up zoomed all the way in (PITA to grab mouse, drag scroll bar over, etc.) I don't think the 'view' zoom keys work on the map; could be wrong.
Yes, I suppose you can pause the game, but this takes a certain element of realism out. Plus, I've noticed many of the controls (cockpit zoom, for example) don't work when the game is paused - so I'm not sure the map will be any more usuable by pausing if the controls stop working when you pause.

Maybe, just maybe, if enough of us request it, they will make sectionals available in pdf for download from their site. Then we can print them, or take them to a print shop for larger copies. I wouldn't mind spending a few bucks to get them printed.

Doolittle - did you enable "Navigation Icons" on the settings? If you enable that, it will show you where you and other planes are on the map. DOH!!! I didn't think of that. My inclination is always to avoid/disable Icons, by any name. My mistake. Thanks for the tip.

The map turns out to be very useful when you can see all the plane icons on it
