Am I the onlly one that feels like the dialogs have been taken from Barney and Friends?

Quote: you look sad, was this too dificult to memorice?"...
COME ON, a fligth instructor asking about "A sad face!", and the acent and enfasis, It´s hilarious!

On the bright side, the actual training is quite Usefull. very didactic, and very well planed out. Not perfect (if you miss a check point you are stuck till you go arrond), but better than I have seen in a looong time. And it actually teaches you stuff too..

But the cutscenes, jejeje, oh man I had a laugh with that.
Yes by the way it´s working fine, still trying to iron the bugs on my controls configuration, but i´m getting there...

I don't think it's real people, I think it's the same kind of software used to make automated voicemail attendants.

I thought the chalkboard parts and actual flying tasks of the training were well done. The cutscenes are certainly worth a laugh.

If it was realistic military dialogue, they would have to change the ESRB rating on the game. lol

It's like getting flight instruction from the AI squad leader in Operation Flash Point.

"oh no. THREE is DOWN!"

my favorite is training mission 3 where they tell you "fly to *voice change* 800 meters". I wonder why they couldn't have bothered with just re-recording the audio.

I know what you mean. I think it's still the same in Armed Assault and even the newly released Armed Assault 2.

"TWO, get to THAT...TREE...at...THREE HUNDRED meters" rofl

Be great if they did training for the Germans, French and British too. More on the combat doctrine side. Or even a very in depth flight training for each new plane one purchases, that would be cool.

Would add to the single play side of the game.

I found the training sequences to be quite fun! the uncanny voice overs and expressions add a sense that I'm watching the first training film ever made. The voices sound like they are being played on a phonograph and I find them to be "period".

It may be corny in this day of CGA but I get reminded of those old chessy, 1920 films I watch as a kid on Saturday and Sunday afternoons!

They hired a Canadian voice actor living in Moscow to do the voice of Eddie.

And the character you play as well WinkNGrin

BTW, make sure those cut scenes are played in the sepia tone rather than colour. It kind of makes more sense then.

In the documentary clip, I think I hear Eddie referring to the Spad as, "..the Spad...we'll never forget HIM.." Makes me wonder when did we all started referring to Aircraft as she/her????? Eddie's reference sounded weird to me.

Heck,I'm certain that sailing ships and boats have always been referred to as being feminine.

I'm a USAF retiree and I don't remember ever hearing an aircraft referred to as "he/him". Even those Big Ugly F*&%er "BUF" B-52's.

Just wondering..... confused

I think they were trying for a Wings of Glory type of thing.

Yeah, some of the stuff said is hilarious. I can live with that though. I was waiting for Eddie to say 'All your base are belong to us'.

I haven't flown all the training missions though, maybe I just missed that part.
