is it possible to buy a copy of the first two Star Wars movies on DVD that George Lucas hasn't crapped on? I don't care about any of the new ones or the ewok treehouse adventure one.

Keep in mind, however, that those are not the same quality as later releases. I believe that they were taken from laserdisc rather than film, and are not truly widescreen.

I think you're right Arthonon about those being direct transfers from the laserdiscs.

In general, I was pleased with the re-release versions of the original trilogy that came out in 1997. There were a few changes though that I didn't like such as Greedo firing first, replacing the original Ewok celebration song from the end of Return of the Jedi and the audio change made to Obi Wan's Krayt dragon call in Star Wars.

I'm pretty much with you on the re-releases. I didn't mind the changes as much as some people.

Greedo firing first was a bummer, and I don't recall the audio change on Obi Wan's call, but I actually much preferred the new ending on ROTJ. I thought that movie was the weakest of the first three, and the ending was a big part of that. The added scenes and reduced emphasis on the Ewoks gave it a larger scope, I felt.

I really didn't like him putting Hayden Christiansen (sp?) in at the end - made it look like if you went with the dark side, you got to be young again in your afterlife, but stayed old if you were good.

ASK A PROPER QUESTION!

Darth Vader vs Preditor, who wins in a reasonable move about setting like flight deck of the Death star and into passage ways.

yes darth has his light scaber and he is pumped for this fight.

They added two different versions of Jabba in the later "revisions".

I dont know how long its been since you've seen the movies but in the original version, you hear what sounds like a loud roar and then you see ObiWan approaching the unconscious Luke on the ground. In the new version, the roar is replaced by a high whistle.

With Blue-Ray media having a large storage capacity they could put the original and enhanced versions on each disc. But I don't think we would be so lucky.
