The only thing missing from this game is being able to have 2 players in one chopper. Has anyone attempted this. It does not have to be over the internet. It would be nice to have 2 players on one machine with 2 monitors. One for the pilot one for the copilot.

There were a few Threads with this Question before. Maybe you use the search Button. wink

Or you use this Link: http://www.albinoblacksheep.com/flash/posting

Ah, ok no search Button, but you can use your existing Thread if you have more Questions. wink

And there is no Option to play as Multiplayer Pilot/Gunner in one Chopper. Only Longbow 2 has this Option.

Really,
much worse than someone that "suposedly" hasn't used the search button/function (can we ever be 100% sure if someone used it or not?) is someone that posts sarcastic replies about how someone should use the search button/function while not knowing or having a complete 100% sure that if that same persone really did use the search button/function!

Why is it dificult to know if someone really used the search button/function even if the "search" seems to be "so easy":
1- There are some or even many posters that probably don't master the English language (or the forum language for that matter)
2- There are perhaps MANY posters that while having some knowlege about using the Internet (or else how would they get into a forum) don't master some more "detailed" search funtions available in the Internet. Having a degree and being a teacher of computer-engineering science I think I'm qualified to know what I'm talking about!
3- If Point 1- is coupled with Point 2- than there can be a very high degree of dificulty for users that want to search something on forums (using the search button/function, of course)!

P.S- I'm NOT against the sugestion about using the search button/function! I'm AGAINT the sarcastic kind of reply that you W4chund, posted. Not anyone is as confortable in forums as you and I are. The fact that speedracer has only 11 posts here may or may not tell something here...

That "Was the 'search' button used?" issue can be cleared up by the thread creator saying something like "I've used the search function, but it didn't turn up any results." or (not quite optimal though) "I've looked everywhere, but...".

That way, you can tell he at least made an effort.

Actually, there's no excuse for not using the forum search. If you can find your way in here, you can also find your way around this place.
You won't even need a degree for that, a bit of common sense is just fine.

Speedracer, don't let the internet get you down. Bliss and suffering are as close in it as they are in the real world. smile
But still: Next time, consult the search function, please. smile

Guys, dispensing of the bull, is it posible to share an aircraft on EECH?, maybe by modifiyng the code or by creating new code?, or maybe by importing code?.

Read his post again, I believe he already knew, that currently it's not possible to play online in one chopper, and is actually asking, whether there are attempts being made at modding this, like Alemart is suggesting.

Well, i am not familiar with the multiplayer part of the code, but since there is already multiplayer capability, and it works by telling the player's sing the environment, could be posible to expand this in a way that would allow a player to select one posotion (CP/G or Pilot) and be "locked" there, and the other position could be ocupied by another player (or AI maybe?), since the situation and environment are locally created in every client machine, it would not differ much from the normal multiplayer situation (i GUESS).

As i know, the Code have not the Possibility to be modified that 2 Players can Share one Chopper as Gunner/Pilot.
Maybe it will be possible if the Engine/Hardcode will be Open Source.

The source code is available, so anything is possible. It just requires talent and work.

I did use the search button. There were numerous posts on multiplayer and other server related stuff but I didn't see anything saying that you could or could not have 2 people in one helicopter. So I thought I would ask.

It is ok, do not worry anymopre about that, just be more specific in the future and do not forget to use the search feature.
As for the code thing, does somebody has more knowledge about the MP part of it?, what about knowledge about MP coding in general?.

There are two layers in MP - packets sending/receiving/resending and the content of these packets.
The first part is good enough.
The second is simple enough.

The only thing left is a man who will add new content of packets.

For now I can tell you only general info as I understand it. There can be nothing new for you.

Each client sends its info to server and server sends that info to every other client. There are no client-client connection.
Those packets are rather rare and small, i.e. the full state (as a pilot sees it) of the chopper is not transmitted. Intermediate states of the gunships are approximated.

Let's assume we save this model of data exchange. It means only one player may PILOT it (because flight model requires precise data and such amount of data is not transmitted) but another one can use use weapons (because the precise position is not required for shooting and if I understand correctly missile's path can be calculated by operator's computer).
Also operator will see not precise data about spatial position of the heli and pilot will not see correct sensor's position and missile trajectory.

But potentially we can use virtual data channel pilot<->server<->operator with greater traffic comparing to usual pilot<->server<->other pilots channels.

Hope this helps.

Interesting, why do we have to stick to non presice data packets?, seeing that a pilot AND a cpg sharing a single aircraft is posible but not practical, then it is not posible to alter something to allow more precise data transmission of the relevant info?, maybe just for the shared aircraft and it's crew?, is that code modificable?.
