Has anyone else seen this movie? Just got back from a rainy day packed movie house. Travolta has put out some recent crap movies but I thought he did a great job in his role and of course Denzel was his usual great stuff.

My father in law read the book and said they had a lot of stuff that was close to it, and a lot that was Hollywoodize. Very worth the money and time to go see!

Unfortunately, I won't get my Robert Shaw, Walter Matthau, Martin Balsam or Hector Elizondo fix from watching "Pelham 1-2-3"....

Anybody know where I could get that fix? I'm jonezin'! biggrin

I saw the original Pelham 1-2-3 on tv recently. Excellent movie.

I'm very leary about seeing the re-make because it flies in the face of my #1 rule regarding movie-going, and that is this:

If John Travolta is in it, and he plays a bad guy, I avoid the movie like the plague. Generally speaking I like Travolta, but I hate him and any movie in which he plays a bad guy with the sole exception of Pulp Fiction (there has to be an exception to every rule).

Name a movie in which Travolta plays a bad guy and I'll name you a crappy movie with the same title.

So, for me, this might be a rental only.

the previews look sweet! I don't think there's a Denzel movie that I haven't liked

oh, The Punisher and Face Off where Travolta was a bad guy and pulled it off; but I agree it wasn't his best role. They didn't seem near as bad as him in Broken Arrow lol

I thought "Face Off" was pretty good.

But man, it seems like the occurence of remakes by Hollywood is getting to be more and more common. It's really getting ridiculous.

Just my opinion, but I thought both Broken Arrow and Face Off sucked. And they both sucked because of Travolta in his bad guy role.

Trust me, I had both those movies in mind when I wrote my post.

In my opinion no matter how many times it is re-made there will never be a better cast selection than the original.

Matthau and Shaw were perfect for their parts and the subway system was shown for what it was, a damp, dark depressing place staffed with bored, weary looking people. Matthau didn't have to say much to get a point across, the final scene was one of the best endings to any film.

This and Charley Varick are my favorite Matthau roles, the best looking ugly guy/leading man in Hollywood.

I was just in Pelham last weekend.

It's okay, but I'd have to say that for excitement one really has to go into Hoover or Vestavia Hills. Of course nothing beats the Southside of Birmingham for pub crawling.
