The audacity of someone to say, or even think, another human being cannot have the mental capacity to do something because of the color of his/her skin is just so incomprehensively idiotic and morally reprehensible, that I am at a loss of words.

Brave men fighting for freedom in Europe when they themselves didn't have that at home in many states.

Like the chap Eugene Bulalrd, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eugene_Bullard , from WWW1 who fought with the French Lafayette Squadron but was not allowed to fly with The US Air Service as he was black.

By the way - Isn't there a new Tuskegee airmen movie in production?

Cheers
Stuntie.

Stuntie,
yes, George Lucas has made / is making a film called "Red Tails" about the Tuskegee airman - I think it was filmed in Hungary. I was lucky enough to see one of the P40Ms they used to make the film a few weeks ago at Old Warden, still sporting it's Hollywood colours (including painted on exhaust smoke and gun smoke).

Here's a few piccies I took of it with it's owner, Peter Teichman at the controls.

Not sure if I heard it... I heard the one about the coke.. of course.. and the motorcycle... the drop tanks.. the great train robbery.. and more.. but I am not sure about the nose art.... inless you mean the nude painting on Creamer's Dream... That P-40 has the serial number of Robert Diez' plane.

Lt. Charles White (301st FS, 332nd FG, Tuskegee Airmen) was one of the first 332nd fighter group pilots to fly a P-51D. After joining the group as a replacement pilot, he had received a war-weary P-51C. White's complaints about its unreliability led his commanding officer to allocate this early P-51D directly to Lt. White. So inspired by the allocation White painted a nude on both sides of the new fighter's fuselage, with a rear view to port and front view to starboard.

From what I read in 'Flypast' this P40 is to be left in these colours for this season, if not longer.
