SOASE = Sins of a Solar Empire

Anyone hear running the 4X RTS game SOASE? I'm planning to find a retail copy this weekend. I searched my local gamestop (advertised to carry the game) for SOASE, but the clerks had no clue about this game. The game has received very good reviews and player comments. What do you know about the game?

AIUC, it seems the game has no big DRM issues for the CD/DVD install (that is, one can uninstall and install the game until the 3009 without any need to 'phone home' to complete the install and/or play the game). AIUC, if you want the updated patches, online gameplya and game extensions then you need to register your copy online and have an internet connection (no surprise there). Not a deal breaker for moi, ymmv, imho

It's very good. The only beef I have with it is that the multiplayer over LAN does not work well on my home network but works fine over the Internet.
I find it to be a good balance between traditional 4x games, but in real-time, and you can build HUGE fleets to just juggernaut across the galaxy and spank your opponents with fearsome weaponry!

I have it, along with its first micro-expansion (called Entrenchment), and though it seems like a good game, I have barely played it. Not in the mood, I guess, though that might change.

I've been playing the demo for a while and like it. Still comtemplating whether to get it or not.

Love this game, burned tons of hours on it. Been awhile since I've lost track of time playing games.
