http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S4K3aM5H5KM&fmt=22I have to say this looks RIDICULOUS. An unshaven action man as SH? Puh-lease... It looks like any other run-of-the-mill action movie set in some farcical 1890's London, but has nothing to do with SH... A classy, haunted and brooding character. Bleh.

Directed by Guy Ritchie(!!!one!!!), I see on IMDB.
I'm never a big fan of this type of thing, but lately I'm tending to agree with people who say that this type of movie exposes people to something they might not have seen before. I mean, there are people out there who probably have never heard of Sherlock Holmes other than the "no sh!t, Sherlock" line. It wouldn't surprise me anyways.
So... yeah. Ya never know, it could inspire some fella growing up, and he might even pick up a book to find out more, maybe even watch Basil Rathbone in ye olde black & whites. Who knows where it could lead. Speaking of black & white films, is it just me, or are they great for leg men?

Speaking of black & white films, is it just me, or are they great for leg men? What do you mean by that exactly? I think I have an idea but I'm not totally certain. One black and white movie that has tons of great looking legs is "La Dolce Vita".

Yup, I think it was Sockeye's pervy side that just spilled out there... Actually, it spurted across the room at high velocity . . . . . . . . Too much info?

What the... Isn't Holmes supposed to be a very well-mannered dandy from the victorian age with just a slight touch of mystery to him ? Something that Stephen Fry would be perfect for ? (There should be a law to force the casting of Fry in every Victorian Age movie BTW...) Or is it Hercules Poirot I'm thinking of ?
Cheers

Oh man that looks pretty bad.
Only Jeremy Brett was able to successfully pull off the role as far as I'm concerned. He is the definitive Sherlock Holmes on film.
I like Robert Downey Jr. but he can't even pull off a decent accent.
S! Totally agree with everything you've said. Jeremy Brett is the ultimate Holmes. As far as I'm concerned the character should have been buried with him (RIP Mr. Brett).
Ever forward!
