Okay, on impulse I bought this just a little while ago. Downloaded and installed. Tried to run right of the bat and program would even start, get a windows message that it closed. I then patch it with the May'09 patch and get the same thing. Is there any special trick to getting this to run on Vista64? Is it something to do with my specs? Thanks for your help! Oh yes, I've also tried the latest drivers for my video card 185.85 and no go.

What's the message? Also, make sure you have the most recent DirectX (Mar2009, I think).
You may want to check for info on the Thirdwire forums too, just in case. No message, just the generic MS one that says some problem caused the program to stop working correctly and Windows will close it. If a solution is found I'll be notified. I have the latest DX installed and it's still the same. Even edited the .ini file to change the resolution to my desktop (1600x1200) and that didn't help. Firewall off, anti-virus off, all no go. Very disappointing that I can't get it to run, first time that's happened since installing Vista64.

I have vista 64 and works ok the permissions detail on it had me going until I changed it you may want to check that and also combatace.com site has lots of answers and downloads many experts who know. Good Luck Can you be more specific with the permissions detail that you mention/did? I've run it as Admin, I have Admin privileges, I tried XP compatibility but nothing has worked so far. TK has given me some suggestions but still a no go. I don't understand what it could be other it just disliking my card, which I've tried all sorts of settings with... very frustrating knowing that others can run it and this is the only game I've run into issues with so far. Thanks for the replies.

Tomcat, thanks mate! I finally figured it out!!! It took me disabling the desktop composition. I tried each one one at a time and it wasn't until I ticked that one that the game would start. First time I've ever had to use those other check boxes beside the compatibility mode one. Thanks again for that tip.
