Does it compare to Starshatter or Iwar?

I am gunshy because I once purchased a Derek Smart game and now get nervous about indie space sims....

I've been playing the game for a few weeks on and off, and so far it's been okay.

There are a lot of interesting things about it, but I would call it a space sim 'lite'. I'm not really hooked on it, but I can see myself hopping in to play once a week for quite a while. I've got questions I go to the forums to answer every time I play, as there is quite a lot of stuff 'around'.

I'd like to mine on a planet, but haven't really seen any ore on planets. I'm not totally sure how standings affect me or who I want standings with and where to go...etc etc.

I've just looked at the demo and done some training. I keep getting CTD if I try to skip the intro. Odd.
How does this differ from X3?

Been playing that since he released the beta build. I really like it!
Neutonian physics (quasi), and it's completely moddable - kinda like the Thirdwire of space sims.

Is anyone still playing this? I recently picked it up, at $25 what a steal. I like it a lot more than X3, it seems a lot more accessable, easier to jump right in to and start having fun. If anyone is doing multiplayer I'd like to know.

Fatty, I have the game, but it's been a while since I last played it (blame it on Strike Fighters 2 Vietnam, lol).

The multiplayer community is small but good, and faithful. Check the forums on the official site for more info - who knows, I might join you on MP eventually. wink

Finally got a chance to sit back down with this one. Went back through the training and then played the 80 minutes of the dmeo I had left remaining. This game is an abosolute steal at 25 bucks, newtonian physics space combat is almost worth full game price by itself.

The graphics are what I'd call functional at best but I like how the game feels "low tech" compared to the X series. You're not plopped in the captains chair punching coordintates into a map and then time compressing around, it's much more organic. TrackIR support is a huge plus as well.

Glad I finally spent the time to configure my X52 and go through the full demo time. I purchased the full game the minute I ran out of time.
