Straight out of the box the game is limited to a pretty low resolution.

Is there any update out there that will bring the resolution up to current standards (1280 x 1024 or better) ?

Monster, have you updated your game? I believe subsequent patches have resolved any resolutions issues. I'm playing at 1680x1050!

SH3 or SH4? Silent Hunter IV is good-to-go, but III takes some tinkering--it does work though. I can't remember the specific thread, but here's some stuff from Subsim:

Just chiming in here, I patched to 1.4 right after installing and have it at 1280x1024, no mods.

Here's a thread at SimHQ that worked for me for SHIII- see Gunnyhighway's post. Probably same fix as at Subsim links, mind.
