I am unable to play IL-2 because I get an error message when I attempt to join a server. The game starts ok, but soon after connection I get the following message:

Mission loading error: Landscape
'net2winter/load.ini' loading error

The value inside the 'brackets' depends upon the map in the server.

This happened after trying to run a benchmarking program: 3dMark05, which froze up my machine.

I tried re-loading the Unified Installer 1.1 but that didn't help. Then I remembered that I had a copy of the game on my W: drive, which used to be my C: drive before I got the 500 gig drive installed. I figured I would find the file in the old install, and just copy the whole folder it is in to the instance of the game I use routinely. Imagine my surprise when the search came up empty. Now I am stumped.

Help???

Similar happened to me. Try disabling any of your load.ini's in your Mapmods folder that relate to default maps. For example, in the net2winter folder put a "-" sign in front of your load.ini
so it says, -load.ini instead. The game will then read the hardcoded map data. Doing that worked for me when I had that problem on certain servers.

Lol, Ruger.

Feathered 4, thanks for the info, but WWPlague found the answer:

It turned out to be a function of my ATI vid card. Somehow the A.I. setting on my vid card got set to "advanced" I dropped it back to "standard"...problem solved.

You can see the details here

Man...Computers are so complicated......and my eyes glaze over so easily. rolleyes
