Vaguely recall that this was raised in a thread earlier, and ROF/Viks stated that FF support is not in first release.

Is that the case? If so, why not? Don't serious flight simmers mainly use FF?

I'm biased of course, I have 3 MSFFB2s! 2 as backups. My first one lasted 6/7 years of intensive flying, so should be right till 2030 or thereabouts beercheers.

Can this be added to first release - first impressions, you know? Every flight sim game I know has FF support.

You will have to pay for the forcefeedback module when it is released. (maybe)

For me, FF works properly in Il-2 with proper spring-forces with Force Feedback switched off

I have a Force Feedback headset (yes, you read that correctly!) The engine sounds rattle the old eardrums when turned up to max., and something sneaking up behind and roaring past nearly knocks me out! I can't use it online though, as anyone with a deep voice on TS sounds like a Darth Vader/Dalek cross WinkNGrin.

cheers

Me too..... I wish a fix could be found for the loss of FFB with a ALT+TAB or WIN key out if you have it turned on in the sim though.

Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can.

That's all you get though, just the return to centre force. I only get that in Il2. If I disable FF in anything else I end up with no forces at all. We'll just have to see what RoF ships with.

I used to fly Red Baron with a MSFFB2 and loved it. I bought a Cougar HOTAS with pedals and could never fly as well in RB as I could with the FFB2, though it is perfect for IL-2.

With the less buttons needed for RoF being a WW1 sim, I will probabaly fly with the FFB2 and the Cougar throttle and the pedals, so long as they all work together.
I am sure some enterprising soul will devise a way to make it work in RoF if it is not supported initially.

Has anyone used a FFB2 in IL-2 with the new Windows 7 Beta? I would love to skip Vista if I could when I build a new rig for RoF.

Yes that's exactly what I want, good solid return springs

Although I had the dot ffe files tweaked for light concrete-shuttering rumbling once Brigs via the ForceEdit utility, bit lazy must get around to tweaking - just glad it's all working right now I'm not touching anything just for rumblecandy Smile2

What I was flagging was that FF works better for me (with that tight return spring on both axes) with the FF option in HOTAS toggled OFF. The reverse of what one would expect... you'd expect a floppy stick with FF turned off, doesn't happen, must add that to the lore Smile2

I feel a stick-tweaking session coming on what have you started mate, yes I remember now, stall-flutter was on the stick once and just a hint of recoil. A smidgin of rumble-strips going down the runway. Must... resist... tweakage temptations lol

Actually its not just those things...stalls, mgs, etc.

I have a good non-FFB stick (together with the MSFFB2, for all the extra buttons), and all the FMs feel quite different, and IMO far far better, with FFB.

There is a utility that can give variable centre forces on the MSFF2 even when your game doesn't support it. Its called RTC and was produced for the MS Sidewinder wheels, it works fine with the MS sticks though. I use it all the time with FSX (when I'm bored enough to start FSX...) it gets round MS's silly FF and floppy stick problems.

This the link to the file archive, it s a bit old so the guy seems to have bundled a lot of his older stuff together in one download, its still only a small file though. The one you want is about 1/2 way down the page RTC 1.4b

http://www.tocaedit.com/IB/index.php?automodule=downloads&showfile=6

I have posted this info before but I think its worthy of a little pimping. I'm on XP btw so your experience with other OS may vary wink

That's the best about the reset trim function in Blackshark! It re-enables FFB of my MS FFB2 as a side effect (!).... at least for me.

Is this something you are making up, or was there a hint of that? - I only remember VIKS posting that it would be added in an update.

Hello,
he wrote "maybe". And there were hints, however it is nowhere directly said.
But the campaign, planes and such will have to be paid for, maybe also for online time or single sessions in the future, if not yet.
Don't talk so loud, they are getting business model ideas from this ... they only want our best .. money lol

My MSFFB stick was causing BlackShark to crash so went and bought an X52. No problem as I have never been impressed with FFB sticks in any game yet. In Microsoft's own Flightsim series FFB effects and the way they have the forces set up is just horrible. FFB wheels are cool in racing sims but in flight sims a FFB stick was a waste of good money. I'll be using X52 for RoF and won't miss FFB at all.

My MSFF2 works fine in BS. Without FF you don't get the all axis trim re-centering function that the rl Ka50 has, for me FF makes the twitchy BS Ka50 much easier to fly.

IL2 has one of the best FF implementations, Condor the gliding sim works well with FF sticks also.

Spotted this on the Sukhoi forum, and thought you guys with FFB joysticks might want to know (no promises of course, and it's a BableFish translation).

Although, specially on the claims of viewers I plan to make the optional possibility to include in tuning of the complexity of game the accessibility of trim tab for all aircraft. Probably, this will be made simultaneously with the support FFB of joysticks (and for them the diagram of trimming another), approximately in summer.

No FFB stick support?? OMG.
I think I won't be able to pay & play this sim if that is true and will be.
I support DRM & I support paywares but I cannot support ROF when this important -for me and many of serious simmers- function is out.
(Guys in my squad have 2 or 3 FFB2 in average.)
I've never even dreamed they won't support FFB.
I'm playing 100% satisfied in IL-2 and Black Shark with MSFFB2.
Go visit MG & ED and learn how to implement FFB support right now.
Fortunately, they are in Russia. biggrin

(Sorry, it was too much rant tone but I was really surprised.)
