Yeah, many thanks Mike.
Interesting, boundary layer transition! You know you've been doing this stuff too long when you find that stuff interesting.

9:00 min countdown hold, resuming in around 45mins.

Their main concern at the moment, is a bat, hanging on the main tank! ;-)
No worries, it might get the ride of its little life though.

First one I've seen, I'm usually here just in time to see that I'm too late. That was cool!

We get to run outside to see it. Beautiful launch. It made a gorgeous contrail. With a clear dusk sky, the contrail was very pronounced and multi-colored. The SRBs were also visible for a long time.

Saw it from my drive way, amazing, even from Tampa area. Even saw the little dots of light from the boosters coming off and back down. smile

Saw it from my front step 150 MILES AWAY!. It was my first and very cool!

The light was waning and I think I moved a little taking these, but still fun.

The wife and I drove across to see it. We found a spot on the causeway right across from the launch site. I would guess we were about 6 miles from the launch pad. Could see the actual lighting of the motors and the lift-off.

This is the 4th launch I've been at; 2 day, 1 night and this at dusk. Each spectacular. It was interesting to see a pale moon in the sky showing behind the launch.

Once again I was awed not only by the sight but by the sound and tremble. Even 6 miles away the sound is loud and you get that trembling vibration transmitted through the air.

I will post photos later tonight when I load them to the computer and then photobucket.

Someday your life will flash in front of your eyes. Make sure it is worth watching.

I'd love to see a launch live, some day .. some day ... the days are getting short for this though ... wonder what will replace it?
