Have you ever noticed that some game boxes have spelling mistakes on them? I've seen a few re-release games in DVD packaging with blatant spelling mistakes on them.

Could this be to do with copyright issues? Perhaps the companies that re-release these games aren't doing it officially, so they have to slightly change the wording so as not to infringe copyrights.

-----

Probably the most obvious example I've seen:

See this Crimson Skies UK release DVD case at the top!
"BIIG GUNS, FAST PLANES, GOREOUS DAMES"
www.mobygames.com/game/windows/crimson-skies/cover-art/gameCoverId,27457/

The original US release says it correctly!
"BIG GUNS. FAST PLANES. GORGEOUS DAMES."
www.mobygames.com/game/windows/crimson-skies/cover-art/gameCoverId,4501/

-----

I've also seen spelling mistakes on unofficial music/band T-Shirts. Is it OK to copy an existing logo/slogan/idea as long as you change the wording/make a deliberate spelling mistake?

I distinctly remember Monogram's 1/48 scale OA-4M Skyhawk's box art, with "MARINIES" on the fuselage.

Found a pic!

I like to think of it like initiation rituals. If you can get your video card, wireless and the right codecs installed and working, then you've passed and earned your right to use it.

I'll have my misteak medium rare with a baked potato, sour cream/butter/green onions, and a green salad. Oh, and some steak sauce. I like A1.

No, those are what we eat for breakfast. It's like Wheaties for Marines!
