Hi:

I've run across three other issues, relatively minor.

1. Non-jettisonable wing tanks on the F-100D

If you elect the jettison the wing tanks on the F-100D, the in flight text reports that they have been jettisoned, but in fact they still appear on the aircraft.

Note: the next two issues are not necessarily bugs -- just minor anomalies that might be of interest to YAP2 players.

2. Wrong call signs used for player

On some missions the Air traffic Controller and Red Crown address the player using the call sign "Cowboy One," when in fact the player has been assigned a different call sign in the mission.

3. Missing Loadout image for B-57B

The B-57B is missing a loadout image, and the WOV ObjectData.cat does not appear to contain one. Those who wish to add a B-57B loadout image can find a nice one in this package on CombatAce:

http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autocom=downloads&showfile=8080

Just extract the B-57B_LOADOUT.BMP from the above into your \Objects\Aircraft\B-57B directory.

Best,

Eric L. Howes

1:Its setup that way.
2:The audible, is stock WOV. We did not redo the comm data or speech strings. So most is not going to jive regarding red crown. (which was a male anyways). The in game displayed call sign is to the best of our research the actual call sign used per mission.
3:Yep your right, we missed that one. Glad you were able to obtain one.

Thanks for the quick reply and explanations. I just got through playing "651117 Short Round." Two issues that I encountered, one minor (and I gather the product of a design decision), the other more serious. The serious issue first:

1. Problems taking off in the A-1E

With the assigned ordnance loadout I cannot get the aircraft off the runway -- I run out of runway before I can take off. Speed at the end of the runway is only 114 knots. Now, if I ditch all the ordnance in the loadout screen I can get the aircraft off the ground. Also, if I release the wheelbrakes and then engage the Autopilot, the Autopilot gets the aircraft into the air no problem, even with the default ordnance load.

2. Ground targets identified as bandits

Other aircraft in the target started calling out bandits, which surprised me. Turns out the "bandits" were in fact "ground target" items which have been implemented as aircraft. Again, not a bug -- but something players ought to be aware of.

Thanks,

Eric L. Howes

1: Hmmm, ya got me. I got off at 103 with no problem, same loadout. Try retracting flaps before you rotate. I'll let Zerocinco know.

2: Now you know how we got the Huey door gunners and Huey AI's to bang away at the bad guys on the ground. Spooky and Spectre included.

Just tried the A-1E sgain, retracting flaps as you suggested just before pulling back on the stick right at 103 knots. No change in behavior.

I do have Flight Model set to Hard in the options. Any other settings that might be playing a role here?

There's nothing wrong with the A-1E.

Instead of seeing the ground targets as a problem, fly the mission. Were you able to deploy the men at LZ Xray? Did your door gunners fire at ground targets like door gunners?...without your input? Did you come in fast over the trees, increase pitch and touch down quickly or did one of the landing Hueys collide with you? Did you get back to the SF Camp okay? Any of that happen?

You might report these "issues" to us via email at suppport@yankeeairpirate.net. We never used to discuss things like this in public and in about one more "report" we are going to stop again.

If these posts rankled, then please accept my apologies -- that certainly wasn't my intent. And if you'd prefer receiving bug reports via email, that's where I'll send them.

Best regards,

Followup on the A-1E takeoff problem: I spent a good part of Sunday looking into this. For testing purposes I installed the Razbam A-1E to a stock install of WOV patched to 8.30.06 -- it took off just fine from various runways. I then installed the same aircraft to YAP2 (substituted for the stock A-1E in YAP2). Result: same problem as before -- I couldn't take off. I then changed the Flight Model setting to Normal (from Hard). Result: both A-1E versions took off just fine.

I'm still at a loss to pinpoint just what is causing this behavior, but it's looking more and more like some other INI setting outside of the aircraft itself is playing a role.

In any case, I eventually implemented a workaround by boosting the SLPowerDry engine setting in the DATA.INI. With that setting increased, the A-1E takes off fine. It may not be realistic, but I can play the mission.

If you receive no reports of this problem from other users, then this is likely a problem peculiar to my system.

Best,

Eric L. Howes
