I was on the original RB3D beta team! smile <------Hint, Hint Neoqb........

Oh how I miss those days! I'm glad there will finally be a WWI era flight sim that will define a new standard for the genre.

BA(little circle)Dirt Dart, later just BA(little circle)Dart of the Black Adders.

Pepe and I refined the Booger Exchange for the Wings of Valour site a loonnnggg time ago.

I am resolved not to be at the bottom of the pilot rankings for the World League tournaments in ROF, as I was for two straight years in RB3D.

The opinions of this poster are largely based on facts and portray a possible version of the actual events.

More dumb stuff at http://www.darts-page.com

"The forum is the place where combat (real time) flight simulator fans come to play turn based strategy combat."

Not that I will even be in a 'World League tournament' in ROF, but if I were, fear not, because the bottom spot would be reserved for me. wink

Good times and fond memories. Seems the ones I remember best are the times flying with and against the WW's. If I remember correctly you were the person who 1st told me about FC. And, I distinctly remember our jaunt into FC and us managing to get into a 2vs 2 duel somehow...

RB2 from the day it came out, patched to 3D, then I got two 12mb Voodoos in SLI mode. POWAH! biggrin

Happy days. Some Japanese chap taught me the finer points of the Albatross.

Really looking forward to RoF. Let's hope it's a worthy successor. smile

Aye, I remember them well Fro!! We were in a couple of DR1s fling from the middle base - climbing to the nose-bleed section before venturing into the middle of the map - then from above the frey one of us diving on an unsuspecting lone enemy plane while the other covers and watches the fight.....GREAT TIMES! <S!>

Maybe it's a good thing Pendragon hasn't resurfaced. Delphi (Prospero?) will keep that old board going until he -and only he- pulls the plug on it. A certain trip down memory lane, fo-sho.

Just a short note, off the thread topic - I can try to prepare an-already-patched Red Baron 3D with glide wrapper etc. set up, or provide you with any instructions you need. What major patch do you want - Hell's Angels Super Patch, Western Front Patch or Revenge of the Jastas? smile

Regards!

I have just read some old RB forum prints back from the 90's, I have noticed that we are all split up. Have Seen Beery(us) and Wingstrut on the Ubi Sillent Hunter forum, (just went there for IL1946). I believe a lott of old RB players are now on the IL game.
Yep, started at RB on the MS/dos, played a lot of fly games, some were very disappointed, and now still playing RB3D patched. Newest game in my collection will be OFF3 and later RoF yes I can not resist.

I remember when RBII released the 3dfx update. That was when I bought my first 3dfx board. It was pretty impressive back then smile Remember this full spread ad?

Since we're all taking a ride in the "way-back" machine,

One of my most vivid memories was way back flying Red Baron v10.4 online on TSN (The Sierra Network).

It was WWBluemax and I flying for the WingWalkers in some tournament which name escapes me at the moment. But Max and I were doing quite well in this tournament, and as such a few of the original Dynamix crew got together and made a TSN squadron for the sole purpose of participating in this tournament.

It was exhilerating and probably the most exciting moment in my years of flying. To actually have the makers of the game as my opponent?! We thought we were going to be shot down in no-time-flat! But Max and I ended up putting so much lead in those guy's planes! I remember the feeling of my heart pounding outside my chest, and swapping congratulatories all around.

Looking back now, having been on the manufaturing side of the gaming industry (working for EA's Jane's franchise) I learned they were just guys - but back then on TSN we thought they were Gods!

Oh, what memories...

Sure I will be happy to give this a whirl. But it does have a lot to live up to if it wants to win over RB3D devotees.

OOps sorry wrong thread! I dunno how that happened...
