The problem of both "dynamic" campaign generators in Il-2 was the static mission file they had to generate. Once a mission was generated all "dynamic aspects" flew out of the window. Fiddling with both pieces of software taught me that static campaigns are the more immersive campaigns within the confines of Il-2 (not to mention that I did not like some "features" of DCG and DGen never got certain things right).

I just read a comment from Oleg saying, that SOW will not only have an ambitious dynamic campaign, but will be designed specifically to allow for other, user-built campaign engines to be implemented.

That is some seriously interesting news.
Will open up a great playground for the more ambitious and talented modders among us.

Based on the interviews I interpret "battles" in the new campaign engine to mean a set of linked missions with dynamic parameters, e.g. if squadron XYZ gets decimated in mission 4 it will get replacements and will probably consist of rookies for the rest of the campaign, or if a bridge gets blown up in mission 2 it will stay down for a number of missions.

There may also be dynamic factors during a mission, e.g. aircraft will get scrambled and get new orders based on what happens during the mission. I'm not sure if Oleg has really said this, though.

Step one to bliss: Remove the separation between campaign & mission. Take the two entities and make them one. Eg: BoB2, Falcon 4, etc. You fly within the war, not within a snapshot taken of the war at your time of takeoff.
