Hi folks,

I played LB2 when it originally came out and decided I wanted to play it again. Much to my surprise (thanks to boards like these, +G and Flyboy's sites) it is still playable. I bought a boxed version off Amazon (I sold my original copy in a yard sell-DANG WIFE!!) and I have dusted off the old controllers. I am waiting on delivery, but in that time I have been reading up a bit here and on the sites linked from here on how to get it running.

I read the install guide over on +G's site and I have few questions. My setup is:

Core 2 Duo 2.33 Ghz
Vista Enterprise (32 bit)
2 GB Ram

Video is integrated Intel Q35 Express Chipset <--may be a problem...this is a work computer, not a gaming rig.

My first question revolves around which video mode to run. Is it trail-and-error as to which runs best, D3D of Software, or has one been determined to be consistently the best?

In +G guide he says " I add the *Display DirectDraw Update (DDU) patch as well, others consider it optional". I plan to do so based on his recommendation, but I am curious as to why.

As for patching... is the LB2 2.09 patch the only one needed? I remember back when it was new there were several patches. I am assuming 2.09 incorporates all the previous patches.

Thanks in advance for all the great information here. I will try to to ask a question without searching for an answer first.

"Display DirectDraw Update (DDU) patch as well, others consider it optional"

Those are the only two patches needed.

Why I say that others think it's optional, and they have a point, in that 9 times out of 10 IF you jump from the install to a glide wrapper AND it works, you don't need DDU.

However, if you jump from the install to a glide wrapper and it DOESN'T work what then?
At that point, with DDU installed you can use LB2config.exe to adjust the game between software mode, 3DFX mode or D3D mode. Some people can only get this game to work in Software or D3D (I would guess that it's a small number of folks, with that video card you may be one of them, hope not though).

Thanks +G for the explanation. I will follow your process.
