Just about to launch the campaign and noticed the Warning on ALL of the campaigns (not the deployment flight)

"This campaign is designed for high end windows XP machines and is not compatible with Windows Vista".

WHAT?!

Non-issue.

google search yielded the following from SimHQ

"Given some limitations of how Vista handles memory, we’ve found that XP provides better performance for very large missions. While most users will have no problems, we wanted to put a disclaimer for the English campaign because several of the missions are quite large and tests have shown that some Vista users encountered problems. We have relayed this issue to Microsoft and we hope that the next Vista service pack will address this issue."

If this is a problem with how vista handles memory all vista users could potentially be running into this problem - with perhaps those with more memory delaying the onset of issues if it's a memory allocation error.

What's the MSKB# for the the problem? If it is a known issue with the OS and MS are looking to fix it in a future SP then there will be a knowledge base article and frequently there are hotfixes released prior to a SP being put out and it would be a very good idea for consumers to keep an eye on that article.

That there's a warning there at all signifies otherwise...

If ED can provide us with the MSKB# we can probably find a workaround.

It was discovered that this feared issue was a non-issue after the game was released.

That it was discovered LATER to be a non-issue is a better explanation than 'non-issue' Thanks.

My company has access to a lot of MS "not released to public' patches and do a lot of beta-testing - and almost always issues that they are planning to fix in a service pack will have hotfixes released - first to select people and then publically but not through windows update.

If there was still an issue there's a very good chance I could get access to a hotfix that addresses the issue and can confirm it fixes it.

THAT SAID - the quote from SimHQ's article indicates that a SPECIFIC cause was found and that Microsoft would be addressing it - as a consumer I do not like 'someone else is fixing it' explanations - especially vague ones - because all too frequently it's simply 'passing the buck' while the consumer is stranded waiting for a fix to come from someone.

No, it isn't. It just puts you on par with an XP install, AFAIK.
