There are ways to make the desktop launch icon to automatically set the affinity.
I did this for FalconAF and it works.

You'll be setting the affinity for the wrong exe though. The GUI is launcher.exe and the 3D part of the sim DCS.exe

Hi Jeevz,

For FalconAF, the BF.CONFIG file shows that the EXE detects the number of CPUs.
For FSX, theres a config file where you set the affinity to make use of the CPUs.
How does DCS do this?

So how exactly are you setting the affinity in Vista for DCS.exe across more than on CPU...
by clicking on the DCS.exe process in the task manager and checking two CPUs?

What about a quad2core, does it make use of all of them?

Thanks

I've got a bad feeling about this.....

I'm using a program called PriFinity to set the affinity automatically. You can of course just alt+tab out and set it via task manager.

Dunno about quad cores as I only have a dual.

PriFinity is available here: http://www.geocities.com/edgemeal_software/SetAffinity/index.htm

I think I might wait on the physical DVD version. Is that going to have the same silly activation/deactivation stuff with it as well? I mean if I buy a game and get a setup code for it then I shouldn't be limited to how many times I want to install it over a 10 year period like I have done with Falcon 4 and several other games.

Reschke,
you are not allowed to talk about that in other threads, you have to put it in this one

There's no install limit. There's an activation limit. Installing and activating are two different things. You may reinstall without necessarily have to deactivate/reactivate.

Further, ED will help with a new set of keys if you use yours up.

GrayGhost, you are not allowed to talk about copy protection in other threads. Use this thread.

Grow up Gisen!

If you have no interest in Black Shark and are only here to push your anti-SF agenda why are you participating in threads other than "copy protection" in the Black Shark forum?

I have a great interest in black shark, which is why I'm fed up of people complaining when I mention starforce as a negative on the grounds that copy protection has to go in the copy protection thread but then happily witter on about how great it is themselves. Rules apply to everyone. Either EVERYONE takes the copy protection to the copy protection thread or stop whining about one side talking about it.

Funny how it is always these extremely junior members who happen to mention DRM in other threads. Would be interesting to see if their IP adresses coincide with known "couldn´t-care-less-about-SimHQ-rules" people...
