Well, Gisen, if you don't believe in the use of naughty words we can only assume BS would mean THIS? Throttle it back guys. Stick to the topic, please. By "I don't believe in naughty words" I mean "I don't think certain arrangements of phenomes or letters can be bad in and of themselves" not "I don't use naughty words" :P The forum, however, censors them. I apologise for replying to freycinet's off-topic post about copy protection and character attacks on me: I should have just reported it in the first place.

Well, I just downloaded it last night, and haven't had a chance to do much with it yet, but so far the impression has been positive for me.
I'm running it on medium settings on a 1920x1200 monitor, and framerates seem pretty good. Again, I haven't done much yet, so things may bog down later in bigger missions, but I'm running a E6600 stock, 7900GT, stock, and have done no performance tweaking on the BS install, so it looks promising. And medium detail looks pretty good.
And finally someone has made a HUD that seems to work correctly with 6DOF. BoB2's gunsight, unless I'm doing something wrong, is always visible, making it tough to know when you're lined up with something.

Other than not completely having figured out the trim function, I'm very impressed so far.
Glad you're enjoying it Chip!! The key with trim is to trim ALL the time when changing attitudes. Always have the 3 autopilot stabilization channels on, heading, pitch, and bank. Use altitude mode when needed. For hard maneuvering and strafing attacks use the flight director mode(disables autopilot control but still has the stabilization modes engaged) but you still have trim in that mode too. For times you are flying straight and level enroute use the autopilot(flight director mode off) and trim periodically to keep the ball centered. Cheers!

flipping through the manual and the various threads is really getting me psyched for this sim, I haven't seen so much excitement over a sim since Falcon 4 and IL-2 came out.
I was planning to wait until the boxed version came out, but the download is so tempting...

Thanks Shepski. Will try your tips. At least I have stuck it in the mud yet. When you hit the Trim button do you just press and do an immediate release, or do you hold it for a while? When you release the Trim button do you very quickly return control inputs to neutral, or do you hold the same pressure as before?
The most common issue for me and what sounds like for some others is having to hold a ton of forward stick or down pitch to enable level flight. So in this situation, would the procedure be, press + quickly release the Trim button, followed by a quick return to neutral controls? Also, when people say "use trim all the time" do they mean little repetitive trim presses or holding the trim button in all the time that you are making attitude changes?
TIA

So the nose pitching up pretty severely with neutral stick isn't my calibration going wacky?
I only had a few minutes to play around with it last night but I noticed that when I took off vertically it pitched up pretty violently. I was figuring on coming home and messing with my controls today.

Thanks Shepski. Will try your tips. At least I have stuck it in the mud yet. When you hit the Trim button do you just press and do an immediate release, or do you hold it for a while? TIA What works best for me is to move the flight controls to set the attitude I want then press the trimmer and release and then release stick pressure. By "trim all the time" I mean pretty much every time you change attitude or have bigger changes in the collective. Basically when the stick or rudder force feels heavy you should re-trim. It takes a bit to get used to.

Thanks guys. I had read the FAQ before posting, but guess that it just wasn't literal enough for my simple mind. Although it still seems more art than science, I'm finally getting the hang of it now. One of the challenges that I have is running a two year old rig, and at times I feel like I'm chasing a cat's tail.
Now to figure out how to select weapons...

I've barely scratched the surface so far but all I can say is WOW! Haven't been this excited about a sim since I held that big, blue 3 ring binder with the F-16 on the cover in my hands 10 years ago. Lots of learning to do but one small victory, I've got as many landings as I do takeoffs so far. Same here, but it was Longbow and Longbow2 for me. I'd love to see an AH-64D add-on.

I'm glad I've got other people in the same boat with me. I've only had Black Shark for two nights, but I've yet to fire a single munition. I'm still learning how to power-up, power-down and perform (very) basic maneuvers. I agree with many of the comments here that this sim really harks back to the Good Old Days of flight sims. Black Shark feels like a MUCH more polished product than Lock On and Flaming Cliffs. It really does feel finished, polished and slick. I'm absolutely loving it.

So far I'm very impressed with Black Shark. I'm another person who has yet to fire a weapon. I'm still learning the start up procedures let alone how to operate the weapon systems.
I ordered a laser printer tonight so I could print out the entire manual and put it in a binder. I also put several of the producer's notes videos on my PSP so I can follow them while flying.

Does the English version, digitally downloaded, support multicore uP affinity setting to improve performance?

You have to do it manually each time the sim loads into 3D mode or download a program like PriFinity to have it set automatically. But yes, it improves performance on my vista 32 machine by about 20 frames.
