Well thx to some forum readers here and at Battlefront, I was able to fix my problem of the game running out of memory on load up... now, with the Marines add-on installed and running... Combat Mission Shock Force has finally become the game it should of been, what... a year or two ago...

The maps are bigger, better, and more "realistic" in a terrain warfare sort of way...
The new missions are fantastic, fun and challenging, (played 3 haven't won one yet, lol)...
The sounds are incredible, especially the new environmental sounds like artillery calling shot out and splash, etc etc...
The new units and equipment are nice...
The visuals have been improved with damaging secondary explosions, cook off's, etc etc...
The game now runs smooth, everything jacked to best with 4x AA on my system is an average of 40 fps, (compared to 7 fps when first released, lol)

A overall great improvement, and now if you were smart and held off on CMSF, then you can now safely buy the pack which comes with both CMSF and the Marine add-on... IF you like this type of game, it still ain't perfect... but it's in a deliverable state now, IMO.

Note: There are still some people reporting lock ups and failure to launch for them, for me it was because of FRAPS, once I turned off fraps, my problem disappeared. But now I can't share excellent screens and videos with you.

Good luck

Chuck, I got mine to work. I changed video drivers to the 9/25 release and it works now w/o memory problem so far.... I just played the biggest map I could find and it is much better. I took some screens using "Snapper." You may want to try that.

If the campaign has maps this big, I'll love the game....if not, well.......Bad Moon Rising is the mission I played.

cool... found out I can alt tab, start FRAPS, then go back in after the mission has loaded, so look for some screens in the screenshot forum soon.

Pretty much all changes will be in the 1.10 patch, but of course one won't get the new maps, campaign and units without the expansion.

Downloading Marines at the moment since it seems like really fun, infantry-focused combat \:\)

Just played the first mission, and dang! It's awesome! Really testing mission design and it feels even smoother than before. More radio chatter between soldiers and fire/air support is really good for immersion, and it seems the AI either got itself a nice boost, or just that the mission designers really learned how to use the editor to its best capacity.

A big 'thumbs up'-approval by Sir #%&*$#!

I just bought the game today, I've been waiting for it to be "fixed" Will let you know what I think of it!

All right, sweethearts, what are you waiting for? Breakfast in bed? Another glorious day in the corps! A day in the Marine Corps is like a day on the farm. Every meal's a banquet! Every paycheck a fortune! Every formation a parade! I LOVE the corps!

You won't be disappointed. It's a whole other game. Much better campaign, and the lack of heavy weapons means you'll have to think much more. The Army revolves around superior fire power in all cases. You have tons of Abrams, Strykers, Javelins and shizzleloads of artillery to pour onto your opponents.

The Marines have one Javelin team per company, and two SMAW teams per platoon (compared to the Army's one Javelin per Stryker/Bradley). It means you are in deep #%&*$# against even as ancient tanks as the T-54 or T-62 since.. well... good luck knocking out a T-62 at the front arch with even a half dozen AT-4, M72A3 LAW or SMAW hits.

Am enjoying CMSF Marines very much. I see next up for CMSF is the Brits!
