Scott, They said in a recent blog reply, either late 2008 or early 2009. What struck me as interesting, was the blog contest a few weeks ago to name the Russian version of the sim, and the name chosen was (War In The Sky 1917)

HE6E = sky
SimHQ does not support cyrillic alphabet. Shame. Ever heard of Unicode?

It's a translator's decision how to translate a word from Russian to English of course yes It's less simple translating a Russian phrase into an English phrase because phrases can have embedded words that change the melody (to an English ear). War In The Sky has the same meaning as War In The Air but the word Air there rather than Sky makes the lead-in smoother. The Yair. Thuss Kye. The sss sound is bad karma in that place in a title. Skies might work As in Storm of War or even Rise of Flight. These are phrases which may sound ok to a Russian ear and which are ok in one sense but not in another. Titles are special: they need to have a good tune, no jarrings. Be smooth baby Pacific Sky War Get the picture Ming

Surely NG games are the publisher for Russia, I assume there'll be someone else for the West.

Maybe they're aiming at the centennial...

Finally the Marshall corners the bad guys, and says:
"Hands in the Sky!"
or
"Reach for the Air!"
One has to use translators twice to get it.
The opinions of this poster are largely based on facts and portray a possible version of the actual events. More dumb stuff at http://www.darts-page.comFrom Laser: "The forum is the place where combat (real time) flight simulator fans come to play turn based strategy combat."

"Reach for the Air!"I had a huge list of bloopers ready but that nails it It's only air when its feet are on the ground... the sky is a place where things happen. The air is the medium in which those things happen he said, as he threw the ball into the sky. Wait a minute I quite like that 'Above us only air. Imagine all the people Living for the twenty four hour period' 'It don't mean a thing If it don't swing' Russian to English is a relatively simple task probably (translators work in real time) if you already speak both languages. It's the translating from English to English that presents the challenge, to be sure to include the original resonances in the phrasing, the shades of meaning. If there was any in there to begin with. And if there wasn't, something needs to be done. No one's getting nearer to Heaven by reading lists: he did this, he did that next, then he stopped. Where's the beef Ming
