Hi guys,

I took the plunge today and installed the 'Other Channel Map' to my UP2.01 install. It looks great! smile It loads in no time at all and is very smooth.

Quick question though re. the install. Looking back over the last few pages of this thread there appears to be some confusion as to what 'all.ini' file to add the line to. I did a search and found eight on my system, but the one I chose to edit was located in \\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\Files\maps. I assume that's the correct one? The map appears in the FMB but not the QMB unfortunately - not sure if that's possible?

Anyway, I took the map for a spin with a Stuka and decided to drop in on the Chain Home Radar - this is where it gets weird. The radar has no 'legs' so to speak. The screenshot link below will show you what I mean. The platforms are there, but there's nothing visibly 'supporting' them:

I've only had the game installed a couple of days (the DVD arrived on Thursday), so I'm still adding things and changing some files for FPS reasons etc. I've copied my current 'conf.ini' file below. One other thing - trees. In the superb video on Youtube the trees all look 'full' if that makes sense, mine look like they're made up of layers. Is that normal? Something in the conf.ini I guess?

Hi KRT_Bong, thanks for the info.

Earlier today I was playing around with some graphics settings and I noticed the radar supports appeared when I switched to Perfect graphics(I thought I had been using that setting all along). I was on Excellent and they didn't appear. Most odd.

Yes. The AKAFA Campaign ran a Battle of France scenario last winter that lasted 20 3 hour sessions. It was great fun.

The Channel Map new from 352, is played on Spits & 109s mod sever located in Hyper-Lobby.

it's called Operation Sea Lion. MDS is activated on all their maps. so you have on going ground battles and air AI bombing mission on going.
Most gratifying map.

Hi, please help me with this.
I tried to join last night, but most probably missing a mod.
I have updated IL2 to latest, and installed UP3 RC4 on top of it.
I activated UP in JGSME.
What else do I need to do to join this server?

UPDATE: done my homework on the website, looks like I have to download MDS. I assumed it is part of UP.

Sorted everything out, and just to help others (although I forsee a lot of facepalms from you), I share it.
So,
MDS is included in UP3. Touche.
The reason I wasn't able to join to the servers was, that I had swastika and widescreensupport mod activated.

The Cross Channel Map uses a 1.5 factor for friction value at every airfield on the map (there are 89 of them). We did that because a good many of the fields are largely open grass, which is ordinarily too rough to land and take off from safely; with the added friction value each airfield is smooth and landing and taking off is as expected.

With the release of 4.10 an airfield friction value was added to the Full Mission Builder. We've discovered that using the friction value in the FMB with the Cross Channel Map can result in some very rough airfields, clearly not our intention and a re-affirmation of the law of unintended consequences, LOL.

We've learned that adding a value of 1 and set friction ON will result in the smooth airfields that the map maker intended.

Hi Pers, you might want to check the Cross Channel map download link. I am getting a 404 error message saying that it can't be found and someone mentioned on M4T that they couldn't get it from your link either. The one I gave you still seems to be working.
