Post it at ubi il2 forum Tree, that'll put the cat amongst the pigeons! Although last I heard,it was 1C buying up companies. Actually I don't doubt it at all that UBI are not involved with SoW.Its just a bit too quiet.

Now that you've got fires burning in several locations, Tree, are you going to put them out since Ivan responded? I'm as excited about the SoW:BoB as you are, but running around with only partial information isn't helping. There's already enough rampant speculation on all sides.
IVAN SAID in response to your post: "Guys, nobody bought out 1C, ok? It`s 1C that bought other company called "Buka" rus - "Бука" which was another gaming giant in Russia. As far as discussing who is the publisher and who`s not, ETA and other related subjects i am not free to do so, sorry. Oh, and just to remind you...SOW is not dead, Korea is not dead and BOP has nothing to do with Maddox games except the licensed engine...and it is NOT using SOW objects, terrain ,etc"

Well i hardly think i am starting any fires, i just repeated what the guy i Ubisoft uk told me. It sounds to me that he got things upside down about 1C being bought out but nevertheless its very clear that Ubisoft uk have no involvement with SOW. What that means on the grand scale of things i dont profess to know but it clearly shows that has far as Ubiuk are concerned there is no involvement with 1C on this project. I would like to state that i have not said at anytime that SOW is dead, however we have been led to believe that the lack of any new/updates is because 1C were respecting the wishes of Ubisoft that now seems to be not the case. Feel free to call Ubisoft yourself for any further clarification.

I'm sure at the start one of the reasons was respecting Ubisofts wishes. That status may or may not be changed. Personally I would like to see IC take over full publication of SOW. Publicly Oleg has stated he's been quite satisfied with UBI's support of SOW. UBI has not made a statement regarding SOW for quite sometime which leads to much speculation as to their current status.
UBI may not have been happy when there announcement of the release of SOW did not materialize. Then again they were part of the decision to release addons of IL-2 instead of trying to complete SOW sooner. My guess is Oleg could not complete SOW with all the features he wanted due to their complexity, computer requirements and time to incorporate, so UBI and OM concentrated their efforts on maintaining revenue flow with paid addon to the IL-2 Series.

Its a totally new series with new game engine.
Obviously its going to take around 5x or 10x the amount of time as IL2 did as it has 10x the amount of detail.
Oleg will not rush out a substandard product, it will be 'done when its done' Well said that man over there Ming

No I meant it was a voice of sanity amidst the thread's insanity Chivas, not that I agreed with the sentiment. One must support sanity. Cling to it Ming

...One must support sanity. Cling to it Ming Quite right, it's called the "Sanity Clause". And don't tell me there's no Sanity Clause!

I agree Ming and wish there was enough sanity to go around. I know my grasp is slipping. Of course my wife would have you believe it left the building years ago.

BOP looks to be an awesome sim for xbox, but has nothing to do with the SOW series.

As Chivas mentioned, This was not made by Maddox and Co. so cannot be blamed for any delay with SOW.

As Chivas mentioned, This was not made by Maddox and Co. so cannot be blamed for any delay with SOW. Ya and " mods " are only used in the mode servers... Look at the graphics. It suppose to be the Il2 engine for Il2 46 re-made for console. Well if that is true then they could repackage the il2 code and give us a BOB lite two years ago. Or hire this guy to make BOB!!!! The graphics from in game look the same and better than most of the BOB stuff we have seen. You smell that? Its the smell of being served as the truth.

I suppose the developers of SOW and the developers of BOP could be liars, but I will give them the benefit of the doubt. When I first looked at BOP screenshots I came to the same conclusion as you. I took a closer look after they denied any colusion and they weren't as close as I first suspected. Then again they should be quite similiar as they are both modelling the same terrain in high detail. It was interesting to see screenshots from AAA mode site of a new IL-2 BOB map with graphics obviously stolen from an early BOB screenshot and claiming it as their own.

Heck, they could do both and make even more money. I guess torturing your paying fans is just too much fun.
