BACKGROUND: This AAR is based on a simple recon mission I created in WOE. The mission was flown to investigate how the game engine selects different groundunits. I added some other groundunits manually to study their behavior. This was all done for the campaign I am developping. You can read more on this campaign on my blog.Flying in my thrustworhty RF-4C I head for the Altenburg Region to photograph soviet sam installations.
Suddenly two white plumes erupt from the ground.
A SA-6 battery, guided by a Straight Flush radar has spotted me.
A few flares and a bit of jinking manages to break the lock of the missiles.
Small puffs of black smoke, alert me of another danger.
Some S-60 crew is taking potshots at me. Luckily for me its quit hard to track a fast flying jet with such an old cannon.
Past the SA-6 battery, I spot another plume of smoke heading for me.
This time a SA-13 is thrown at me, which I easily evade.
I guess no one got this close to an SA-13 launcher and lifed to tell about it.
A long straight plume of smoke up into the sky, alerts me of another danger.
A SA-13 Gaunlet is firing at me.
Instead of heading straight for me, this missile climbs above me before swooping down on me. Luckily the missile malfunctions and misses me.
Finally I am out of the range of all those SAM's and guns. My tail is all shot up, but at least I can limp back home alive.
Happy Flying
