Clearly not.

Like I thought. Inside humor..

But let me guess. Someone doubts the veracity of even the pilots themselves, right?

That's not what I'm trying to get across. It's always hopeless anyway.

It's odd that they retained the (Western European) custom of painting the enemy's symbol for every kill on their planes - which otherwise looked like they were completely Soviet.

The Sovs all painted little red stars to denote kills (when they bothered).

The opinions of this poster are largely based on facts and portray a possible version of the actual events.

 Quote:
On one mission, flying only with his wingman, Marcel came upon a Focke Wulf 190. Coming in on the German’s blind side, Marcel pulled in quickly on the right wing flying along side with the German. The German looked to his right and saw Marcel, wingtip to wingtip. Marcel said that the German’s mouth flew open and his eyes were large as saucers.

Laughing, Marcel waved at the German pilot. After the shock wore off, the German pilot smiled and Marcel pulled his Yak straight up and away. His wingman was very up set telling Marcel “You had that on cornered!” But that did not bother Marcel, who had proved himself over and over and a superb pilot and aerial combatant.

Cool story

 Quote:
Marcel had the opportunity to fly the American P-51 and the P-47. In comparing these allied aircraft with the Yak, he clearly said that the Yak was a superior aircraft. When Marcel flew for the RAF flying the Spitfire, he was not impressed with the English aircraft at all.

In test flying the German Focke Wulf 190, he found the controls very stiff and hard to work. The Yak was a fast aircraft, built mostly out of wood. Marcel said that some of the pilots that flew the later models of the Yak actually tore off wings during high speed maneuvering.

Interesting! the Yaks have always been one of my favorite planes in '46 especially the later models. It flies superbly well!

I was just trying to make a point. I think all of the planes are modeled pretty good and some russian fighters were very good. I HATE THEM! I don't #%&*$# though. I don't say "No way that's possible." or "That thing can't do that in real life". Instead I go get my books out and look up speads climb rates et. The others say the famous "Only in Oleg's world" Get some books..get fine with being shot down alot..get better... or shut up

Is a small, lightweight fighter going to outclimb and outturn a big, heavy one? Does the Pope wear a funny hat?

Is it going to do it at 8000 metres? Is it going to fly as fast, carry as much fuel, or take the same amount of damage?

So yes, people should dig out charts or at least look at Il2 Compare before they complain.
