I'm using a 32-inch Sony Bravia as my current computer monitor (my roommate bought a 46-inch Samsung for the living room so what else would I do with my TV than to make it my monitor \:\) ).

Anyways, thus far it's worked fine for all the games I've tired (namely the Thirdwire sims), but today I tried to fire up Il-2:1946, and after I click it, the screen goes black and my TV says "unsupported signal please change PC input." Any ideas on how to get the game to work?

I've tried using the setup from the start menu to run the game in a resolution that I know will work. I had it set to a rather weird resolution due to my previous monitor, and on this new one I'm using another rather odd resolution (1360x768) so my theory is that it has to do with the resolution, but I'm not sure what I can do to make the game run properly.

Go into the conf.ini file in the 1946 folder.
open with note pad and change to these lines below, save, and you should be good to go.

[window]
width=1360
height=768
ColourBits=32
DepthBits=24
StencilBits=8
ChangeScreenRes=0
FullScreen=1
DrawIfNotFocused=0
EnableResize=0
EnableClose=1
SaveAspect=0
Use3Renders=0

..and lead us not into temptation......I'll find it myself.

Thanks for the tip! It at least gets the game to load.

Is there a way to still use a full screen resolution? When I fire up a mission, I get kinda a letter boxed (i.e. black vertical bars on either side of the image) appearance. Is there a way I can use a resolution higher than 1024x768?

You will have the black bars on the side until you hit fly, then it will become full-screen. Give it a shot...at least that what occurs on my screen.

Same here. 1360x762 is the standard rez for 32" TVs and I only get the 4:3 screen on the menus. During flight it is full screen and at the correct aspect ratio i.e not stretched.

I wouldn't have a problem with this is the menu was letter-boxed, but when I go into the flying part itself, the screen still gives me a letter-boxed look.

Try changing your in-game resolution (Harware/Video Modes) to 640x480x16 and make sure that you keep the folder resolution (conf) at 1360x768x32.

CoNa's conf.ini gets you around the letter box thing on most 32" LCD TV'sThe important bits are in bold

Also the standard VGA for a 32" is 1360x768, except for a few that run at 1366x768, not sure what the Bravia is at

Make sure you are connecting via VGA and not HDMI.

HDMI will restrict the resolution to distinct standards and does not allow user flexibility.
