On May 3 and 4, the Fuerza Aérea Argentina (Argentina Air Force) organized a two days Open Doors Journey, celebrating the 26th anniversary of the baptism of fire.
We could see the C-130s making several passes, and one of them landing to pick the parachuters that jumped later from 3.000 meters (about 10.000 feet)
Also, there were some aerobatics performed by the twin engined FMA IA-58 "Pucara", the Advanced trainers FMA IA-63 Pampa, and some civil planes like the Pitts you would see in the photographs. A pair old and reliables Dassault Mirage IIIEA, made some high and low speed passes at 50 to 100 feet of the ground; one of them a high speed pass with a high G pull up at full burner... that plane can surely climb fast
I have a modest Olympus C-740UZ, so the distant photograps didn't come out as good as I wanted.

The last ones

Someone here made a mistake; the sign says "Mamboretá Rocket Launcher". I'm not sure, but I think that that is a bomb

That's the winner for me, great shot. It's really cool to see stuff that isn't from US or European air forces. Thanks for sharing Pablo.

And I always had a soft spot for the Pucara, a good-looking plane.

Yes, I agree, nice shots, and I have always liked the Pucara - nice to see it and the A-4 flying.

Just out of interest, why aren't the safety stencils on the C-130 in Spanish? If that thing goes down in its normal area of operations, there's a good chance of it being the language of the locals that find it...

To be honest, that is a question that intrigues me too, but I don't have a certain answer. I think it may be due to the many internacional missions called by the UN that the FAA is taking part on in many places in the world; I think the biggest participation of the FAA is in the MINUSTAH operation in Haiti, and that could be a reason for the english stencils.

Lovely shots \:\) Thanks for posting a pretty rare selection of images.

I particularly enjoyed seeing the Lincoln! I hope that the museum does some restoration work on it...

Acatually Pablo the biguest activity for the FAA, is UNFICYP - in Cyprus, Minustah - Haiti, is the biguest ground contingent, the FAA has the mobile hopspital there, and a few helicopters. We also have U.N. peacekeepers in Kosovo, a few missions in Africa and Asia.

Grate pictures. By the Way the A-4´s flying ar A4-AR, (ex M) not B nor C. And I also hope to see some restauration done on the Lanc. They also have a very well maintanied Ju 52.

It's not a Lancaster, it's a Lincoln. \:\)

It's an important distinction because they are even rarer than the Lanc (I believe that this one is one of only four left in the world).

Well, if you look closely to the Lincoln photo, you can see the gray sillouette of the Ju-52 behind the Lincoln.
The problem with this two planes is that they are too big to fit inside the hangars of the museum, that are already packed with many planes; so, they are heavily exposed to the birds and weather.

thanks for showing us those pics. I really hope they will be able to put the oldtimers inside one day, a shame to see them outside.
