I'll say. Love that one. My buddy had one, but he abused it and it was eventually stolen. Really looked hard for a good used Hawk back in 2000, but had to break my budget and by a newer SV650 instead. I guess the SV is the modern equivalant. I really like naked sport bikes. In a few months I'll probably pull the fairings off my Ninja and mount a new headlamp, turnsignals etc... It was used and had been dropped several times anyway.

In the old days arthur that would be called a cafe racer, the tank humper version of a chopper.

There was only 16 squadrons of RAF fighters that used 100 octane during the BoB.
The Fw190A could not fly with the outer cannon removed.
There was no Fw190A-8s flying with the JGs in 1945.

Here is a pic of my old 79. These models are referred to as the beast. I sold it about 5 years ago.

Wow, look at all them pipes! Twin front rotors too. That was probably the most badass bike around in '79. I was thinking of painting my bike silver. After seeing that, I know I am.

That's a triple right. I love the sound of a triple, or a six.

And Walli, I like those Connies with big Ninja motor.

Like to see a pic of the RD350LC. I had a Daytona Special RD-400F which was the last air cooled smokers.

Here is another site I frequent. It's all about old Japanese bikes.

I haven't got any pics of the LC I'm afraid, it was mainly standard except for metallic green paint and a bit of tuning, it was pretty quick but peaky and used to seize up at the drop of a hat.
I think they were called RZ350 in the US.

Just realized I missed 2 off the Kawasaki list, Z1B and Z1000A1. Loved the Z1, it was mint but all the story about the handling are 100% true, evil at speed, major tank slappers. got pics of that but no scanner.

Yeah, my old RD400F seized a couple of times. Pretty much and experience when you are going around 75mph. I guess you know what a nice Z1a goes for. I knew a guy that went to meet his maker on a Z1. Don't know if he got into a tank slapper or was just an idiot. Also mint CBXs go for a bundle.

There is a 81 CBX in San Angelo and he wants 16k for it. It has 8 miles on it.

It's in a million pieces in my garage currently, so no nice pictures, but I have a BMW R75/6 bike that is one of my current restoration projects. It's a 750cc flat-twin boxer, that I am doing some little mods to here and there. It will be closer to an R90S by the time I'm done with it.

I got a 2003 YZF-R6. Haven't rode it in a year though because of my back surgery. Just got cleared though so when I get to Ohio I can start "flying" again.

Yeah, you need a good back for one of those crotch rockets. I'm 52 and have too big a belly for leaning over like that. My old FZR-600 was fast and and a pretty bike, just too hard on my wrists. The fastest bike I ever had was a VF-1000F Honda Interceptor. It was big and scary fast. The R6 is a fast bike.

I've never ridden a BMW. I guess the closest bike to that I've rode would be an old Moto Guzzi.

Its great. Clear sky, warm air, full moon, no traffic.
Not even the bugs were out!

Yep. I ride my Honda VTX 1300S everyday 120 miles to and from work. 45+ miles per gallon.

Jason, I'd love to know more about your journey and the bike. I have about 100 miles to go each day, on a mix of country roads/motorways and then in town, which I do in the comfort of a car. I have never owned a bike, and apart from being worried about accidents, I don't know if a bike would make sense on that kind of journey. Can most bikes cope with high mileage?

Hey Dave,

Well, it's 57 miles from my front door in Redlands to the GoGamer office in Lake Forest. It's nothing but 3-5 lane Freeway all the way. When the traffic is moving it moves at like 85mph. When it's slow it's like 10mph. With my bike I can ride in what we call the Carpool Lane or Diamond Lane. This alone would save the average driver in a car 30-45 minutes on my commute. Plus I can split lanes when traffic stops. That's legal in CA. You live in the UK so I don't know if any of my advantages apply to your commuting situation.

It is dangerous at times and I've had a couple close calls, but I do my best to minimize the danger by giving myself lots of room and a clear way out when at higher-speeds. I also wear lots of protective gear, hemet, thick leather jacket, reinforced gloves, leather chaps and nice steel toed boots.

Not sure if anything I wrote here helps, but that's what I do.

Jason
