Awesome! It's kind of like an artillery salvo. Imagine actually having a radio option to call for nearest arty unit to strike on the tagreted point.

"Imagine actually having a radio option to call for nearest arty unit to strike on the tagreted point." Indeed, Jane/LB style or even more fun-like the feature in the Novalogic Comanche series. Handing over targets to your wingman is also great though. If the arty feature is not included in EECH there might be a good reason for it though ... in a DC with arty units being not-so-close as in e.g. the very small area of operations like the comanche series it think it would be near to impossible to do so even if arty exchanges are included in the warfare/campaign scenario's.

but can this problem with ground units ever be fixed? i take it their would have to be a massive change made to how the code works, just a shame as it takes away greatly from hunter killer missions which is what heli combat is all about. Everything is possible, with the source code available. But it would be quite a bit of work, and even though it's something I certainly would like to see improved, I don't have the time to do it myself anytime soon.

Hi arneh, Yes i would imagine that it would take a lot of time and patience, and then the testing would be a real headwrecker.your doing fantastic stuff with the sim as is so dont mind me harping on.keep chugging along and who knows what you might come up with next... God bless

In addition to thanking you for your work, I also wanted to thank you for your patience in dealing with all of our questions and comments. It just struck me how patiently you have done this and that too is really appreciated.

But I'm having a big problem with 1.10.2 regarding the texturing of the Alaska map (and perhaps others). Previously (with 1.10.1) the map of Alaska had good texturing but now with 1.10.2 instead of having textures everything is white with NO textures present on the map.
I would like to know how to fix this situation, or at least have the bug fixes (such as the ones regarding the EO targeting) and not to loose the textures in maps such as Alaska. Do you have a common\maps\maplist.txt file? Does the directory name in there "ALASKA", match the directory name in cohokum\graphics\textures\terrain? Does that directory have textures?

Uhm, calling for artillery and air support is included (it's in the local base radio menu). Admittedly they just report "Tubes busy" most of the time. Probably because you're too far away from any friendly artillery units. But occasionally they will fire at what you request. Taiwan is a perfect place to test artillery. http://www.eechcentral.com/wiki/index.php?title=Requesting_artillery

Nice Kassie, never read that wiki page before. I'll try that one out asap. I gave up on artillery cause I never really understood how to best get it to work (when) in EECH. In an arcade game like Comanche series it was obvious ... missions were sometimes based around it. What many people write about stationary units etc. is caused by the immense difficulties it must be to get everything to act (together) as it should (human-like) in a DC environment. It would be nice to have truly 'intelligent' foot soldiers, moving vehicles (tanks, transport), boats etc... but for me EECH is (already) difficult enough as it is Things described here I was able to find in tank based games/sims like (even) Armored First series by Novalogic. There of course we (helo's) were the enemy. I was disappointed at the time that e.g. the Microprose follow-up game (tanks) to Gunship! was never published. 1.10.2 impressions - the new features are great and in a few days I'll doubt it wasn't there before - performance: this is not rocket science, but I flew a few campaign missions before and after 1.10.2 (new texture loading feature) and, may be coincidence, the maximum storage allocation in XP2 was about 100 MB less in favor of the new exe. FPS also seemed a bit better, but all this is very much gut feeling more than fact. XP task manager reported max storage of 675 MB (total OS+game+...). IMHO memory hungry games can learn quite a bit from EECH. My gaming rig: 3500+ AMD / GF6800GT @ 1600X1200+FSAA / 1GB RAM ... on such a below-average-system every optimization counts.

Err, no I don't have such file. What do I need to do in order to have that file and to solve this situation? Thanks for the reply.
