map switching (to any of the fallen crescent maps) and some keyboard problems.

i followed the walk through and finally got software mode to work and just a bit ago got dgVoodoo gilde wrapper to work (wow....game looks so nice).

the kiowa warrior is fine and in game map is fine via the quick wac fix and the ca.ini fix.

unfortunatly still hangs and crashes when it decompresses the maps for any of the azerbaijan

it bugs me since i love those level and am already sick of ntc. I ran this game fine year ago or so using a virtual pc (win 95) which limited the ram to around 350 or so and i had the same problems so i dont think its a ram issue. im on a amd duo and vista.

2nd problem is keys. the only way to gain collective is by %'s. i cant trim the collective up via the + button and ive tried to change keys but when i remap the key its just lists the key as "none". also missing a couple other keys such as [ (for tail rotor and power down engine 1). anyone else have problems here?

Otherwise thanks all who have pitched in on getting this amazing game to work.

Well, for the decompress issue you could try copying your disk two and mounting it with daemon tools or something similar. This always speeds up the process and might make some impact on your problem. Or you might be able to manually decompressing them and copying into your Longbow 2 directory. The Elder Gods of LB2 had specific instructions on how to tdo this so that the folders were named properly and the process could work without the CD. I believe Hatchet was one who described this. You could google him and also check some of the zipped Longbow2 survival packs that iirc have instructions and various other aids for LB2.

Good luck!

ya i thought about just manually unpacking the files from disk two to the root directory but i have no idea what to name the folders so that the game will actually go to them. this seems like the simpler route.

as far as mounting i take it that would involve making a mds file of sorts with poweriso right? never tried actually making an iso but i could give it a whirl

.....after homework...argh \:\(

G's excellent LB2 site, specific instructions on that page for utting the maps onto your drive and where.

I haven't been able to locate the old instructions for map switching, but should be hanging around in some dusty internet corner. Recluse might have them stashed away.
