I hope this is not what KOTS will be. That terrain is awful.!
Someone tell me this is NOT KOTS.
And you guys don't rate OFF?

Oh come on ....Don't you have FSX....
The map that we saw regarding KOTS engine is much more detailed and alot more realistic........
The screen shot is of FSX, no disrespect intended but is this screenie even DX10??? It might be, but I dont think that it is....

Anyway I'm sure that KOTS will look much better...

The second screen shot is from the KOTS demo... Its a little difficult to see as the fight time is either dusk or dawn.. Bu you can see the trees are much more detailed in the KOTS engine...

We don't rate OFF! Thanks for telling me I'll uninstall it right away.

Of course the real irony is the fact that the FSX/CFS3 engine are not that different and the above screenie of FSX is what OFF looks like with the graphic settings turned down.

Cas you need to get out more

Yes it's on low settings; with autogen & scenery density cranked up (as this scenery requires in the readme) it looks better (much more trees etc.); i could probably get some third-party trees etc.
the idea was just to compose a 'scene' with at least 2 ww1 aircrafts (with the accent on the Dr.I, which keeps the topic in the KotS forum).

Somebody was telling me about FSX Acceleration last night but I forgot to get all the gen is it worth picking up please? FSX looks very nice (understatement) with the DX10 beta-bit. Also who's got the South East (must have Dover) England VFR photo-realistic scenery please is that good under FSX? WW1 planes in modern-day England might be a nice trip with all that activity down there (road traffic, very nice, wonder if there's trains)

Regarding buying FSX Acceleration; i enjoy the stock Red Bull mission(s) (last mission in the list - FSX Deluxe) very much. The Acceleration package has another 3 or 4 missions of this type if i read correctly on the site (they are for multiplayer, but with a single player version) so i'm thinking of buying it; OTOH, if i won't buy it, sooner or later i'll start trying to make some race missions \:D There is already free thirdparty race mission very interesting - the Hooverdam Airace.

Speaking of air races Laser, someone needs to do an FSX add-on so we can fly like.....

Those Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines!

I'd love to be able to race an Antoinette, Boxkite, or Avro right out of the movie onto our computer screens.

Yes, that would be great \:\)

Or this:

I'm thinking now in a FSX mission you can check all kinds of conditions, plane angle, distance to earth, what wheel touches what and where, so maybe this kind of aerobatic could be made a mission!

That sort of FM fidelity would be wonderful Laser (I think I linked that video here before, in reference to wind sound [engine-off] suggestions for KOTS).

Having an add-on or a civilian flight sim where you could compete, perform as in an airshow, or as at a flying contest on the order of the early aviation races and international meets would be a very neat setting to explore for experiencing the jaunty daring-do of the beginning aircraft pioneers, not to mention the fun of trying to keep these early string bags aloft!

I can't believe this hasn't been done yet. What a great idea! London to Paris in a Bleriot. Sounds like fun!

Thanks Pooch!

Forwarded this idea back when the Birds of Prey WWI sim was under development, and the developers liked the idea then too.

The game could even involve role-playing elements, like campaigning over a season of air meets, where you get trophies and prize winnings which allow you to modify your aeroplane, or buy/build new designs, oh, and work to garner the affections of an adoring public (and the ladies in particular). ;\)

Could almost take on a Sims-like approach, but based on traveling to the International Meets of the day, and whooing the crowds throughout Europe with your daring exploits, along with those of your fellow aviators (multiplayer could be a blast).

For those who haven't seen Those Magnificent Men In Their Flying Machines, here's two funny YouTube videos of a couple of the film's scenes:

"Up, Down, Flying Around"

"Enchant All The Ladies And Steal All The Scenes"

And the movie:

"Bio"

I think a sim like this would just be really fun too! \:\)

FR S!- Yes, my mistake - I didn't realize that there was a "Western front " for FSX etc , so i didn't know what the shot was from. I was just underwhelmed by it and was somewhat scared it was meant to be a KOTS beta shot or something! Phew, thank goodness it isn't.

Brigstock S! - please note the question mark! And I have never seen OFF looking like that- indeed, if you have the sort of system that needs the sliders that far back to run OFF, and thus that is how you see the terrain in OFF, then the first thing to do is to invest in a decent modern gaming computer.
I really hope you are not suggesting that OFF would have to be run like that. On a halfway decent system, OFF looks much better than those shots, and it also looks better than FSX.
And it's a fair bet I get out more than you do \:\)

Ming . Ref Acceleration- there is a sub forum for it under FSX on Sim Outhouse website. Some reckon it's great, some say it gives their computer problems.. May be worth reading it before you purchase.
Ref the England VFR, I believe Horizon and Just Flight both do a FSX version. There are demos available. Have a look at their websites.

Noted the question mark, however the grammar doesn't suggest a question, it was a statement.
For the record I have a high end system, I enjoy OFF, with sliders set forward, yes indeed it does look better than that screenie and I get out a fair bit. If you get out more than me then perhaps you should stay in a bit more \:\)

I just found your usual negative post ironic. FSX is just a continuation of the MS sim series and that includes CFS3. I could see it was the MS engine almost immediately, it looked very similar to OFF to my eyes having played with the sliders a bit in the phase one days trying to find a CDT issue I was having, except with a better cockpit.

I'm guessing you would love KotS, when it's released, to look like the FSX screenie just so you can say you told us so.

Cas is ok Brig, and he'll come around I think....besides we're all pretty well greased up for something new to impress us from the KOTS Team (so we can all have a round-robin nay-say-so just for the fun of it)!
