I'm wondering if you can fly other planes than the F-16. Also, can you modify the flight model of a plane at all?

Thanks

Yes, you can. In each campaign folder is a file titled "validAC." Change the name of this file in order to fly other aircraft. I believe you're limited to single seat aircraft.

But how detailed are these other planes? Aren't they just F-16 cockpits and flight characteristics with different models?

As far as i can see, you just get the skin.....everything else seems the same....i thought maybe if i tried a different aircraft i wouldn't get torched so often......another case of denial BUT
sure am enjoying the game.....just as i enjoyed the old...old Falcon.... \:D

I guess it's excellent for movies.

Hello guys, this is my first post,

I've registered just to say that I've been flying with a F-22a in F4:AF and that's great!
M1.65 without AB is very nice!

I've played with a C-17 too, but just for testing purpose, it's veeeeery slow..

I've noticed that they all share the same cockpit and it's hardcoded, because inside a C-17 you still see a F-16 exterior in 3D and 2D view.

but, anyway, still a nice thing do do..

Hello, I agree. My logic is this. I'm not a pilot, I'll never sit in any of these aircraft so the cockpit being "wrong" as it is, really won't bug me that much. My first gaming system was an Atari which was a mixed blessing as it gave me the ability to imagine early on in my gaming life. lol So as backwards as an F-16 pit in a Tornado IDS its still fun for me.

I'm not sure its gets any better then simluating a low level bombing mission in the IDS CCRP. The baltic maps alot of fun for that. I also enjoy the mirage 2000D. That is a two seater but I was able to fly it in the mission editor anyway. I can't remember if its in any the baltic campaigns.

They are reasonably detailed considering they aren't meant to be flown. Each one has a different flight model, although you can do some outlandish things (such as dive a C-17 straight down to near-transonic without the wings ripping off). The only real hole I noticed is that alpha fighters are somewhat nerfed. Although I might just be flying them wrong.

Most of the weapons work, although not necessarily the way you would expect them too. It works online as well. Sometimes I fly as an adversary for my brother (usually Flanker or Fulcrum, but occassionally Hornet as well) and most everything works. The sole exception I've noticed is the Phoenix missile when you fly the Tomcat. You have to go through a convulted series of steps to select the missile from dogfight mode, which limits it's employment a helluva lot.

When i fly the Mig29A in the first Balkans campaign i cannot seem to guide the r-27R missles...R-77 in the later campaigns seems ok. I know the r27 requires a radar lock.......anyway, flying for the other side is kinda fun....
