*sniff...sniffffff...* hmmm, you could be right. The Fokker DR I for the FSX ist just an appeasement to hide the fact, that the KOS - project is already dead and gone. May this is just a conspiration theory to upset the fans ...or more? Who knows?

Over 200,000 British citizens claimed Jedi nationality at the 2001 census, claiming Arthur C. Clark as their spiritual CEO or it might have been Yoda
Wait let me check my facts that doesn't sound right

We shouldn't listenWe don't Trooper we ignore the bollocks. Like this cheating rubbish. Let them cheat it just makes the combat more interesting. "But they can find your position on the map" - good it saves me going looking for them. "But they have higher-punch weapons" - good now I'll have to fly better to keep out of the way of the rounds. And so on. We don't pick planes so as to gain an advantage based on the climb rate or fire power. We leave that to the 109 drivers <runs away> That's a cool list there Uriah, the race is on My money is on KotS. FM already in there, small number of planes and the terrain already looks sorted. Unless they've seen Slovakia and decide to go for a more realistic feature-creeping terrain. Another million objects to move around the board BoB: feature creep leads to gridlock when land girls and horny soldiers cause nine months delay as midwife model production fails to keep up with demand "They should never have animated them" The Routemaster now seems so very long ago and you'd think that the London bus would be the very last object to build. The cherry on the cake "We finished the Routemaster" = signed off Ming

I started following this thread in 06 was told the game would be ready end of that year ,then first of 2007 then summer 2007 then first of 2008 and now end of this year . Not gonna happen . ... Oh yeah, gotta believe in logic like that... Talking of logic, why would a developer, who has a sim apparently in limbo, and with many interested would-be purchasers wondering whether they have the means to finish and launch the sim, issue a plane for us to fly in an existing flight sim engine -ie. FSX? To prove that the plane and scenery runs well in FSX? Is it such ridiculous speculation to wonder if KOTS buyers will need FSX too?

I downloaded the KotS FSX terrain and DR1 (and patch) for free when gennadich told me I could pick it up as a Christmas present (or at least as a freebie) for their loyal supporters. Why they did that is to look at the teeth of a horse that's given as a present
To prove that the plane and scenery runs well in FSX?
If so, they proved it. Now I have even more confidence that KotS will sell like hotcakes to the RB3D community (especially) and also the Il-2 community and the EAW community and the FSX community. You can half-close your eyes flying FSX and imagine that gorgeous gennadich terrain below. Almost there.
"Why do people use wind tunnels can't they just send up a kite and see what happens?" - bit naive perhaps
Is it such ridiculous speculation to wonder if KOTS buyers will need FSX too?
It's not ridiculous speculation no. Speculation is another word for opinion, everyone's entitled. Because opinions don't cost anything everyone has one. Building a flight simulator must incur a cost to the developers though, not least in confidence. So they probably need morale-boosters and stuff like that, it's a long road apparently

I think the FSX add-on Triplane satisfied a desire that the development team wanted to issue some sort of work preview before Christmas, which they had hinted at, and which they accomplished. The development process over the past half year has also accompanied negotiations which for obvious reasons we haven't been privy to. Using FSX as the add-on's demonstration platform taps into a large potential part of the aviation sim market also. In the end we will get KOTS depending on the drive, the enthusiasm, and the fortunes of the project developers, and nothing we speculate about here much affects that progess (which is probably a good thing).

Hilarious, we get what ammounts to a simple flyable demo and still people find something to moan about. I just view it as clever advertising, using an open sim engine that probably a good proportion of the target audience have available. I bet there's plenty of people in the FS community been made aware of GT's existance by this release. Now where's that Camel

I bet there's plenty of people in the FS community been made aware of GT's existance by this release. Now where's that Camel I'm not moaning - just speculating. Personally, I wouldn't mind at all if KOTS became an FSX add on. If the devs can produce such quality planes and especially such quality scenery in FSX then we would be "quids in". If, in dogfights, FSX could still provide the FPS, then it would be fine. Or, the devs could use their own exclusive engine. Doesn't matter, either way. But do please look up the meanings of the words speculation and moaning.

Actually you're touching on one of the hoped attributes of KOTS Cas, that it'll be a high-fidelty flight simulation first and foremost, as well as a great combat sim!
If the KOTS Team can fold-in as much piloting fidelity into the sim, and layer onto this the airmen's combat experience, then the immersive purpose of flying and fighting in the Great War will be well served. To a large extent the ability to master one's plane, allows one to master one's environment, and then to attempt to master one's opponent(s).
There is a meaning in the madness sometimes, and much of this has to do with setting the correct tempo of air combat. Too little requisite piloting skill has meant the tempo of previous incarnations have been too "compliant" to find a better term. Whatever terms one wishes to use, enabling the aerial battlefield so that the sky's environment plays its role, and the neccesary cockpit effort requires its part, then hopefully the tactics of engaging the enemy will make sense, as difficult/rewarding as that might be.
