In external view, the F-16 becomes transparent. Any ideas?

Aw mate, I have the same problem and made a post about a few weeks ago. Apparently this is a known Vista-issue, however, it only appeared on my install after I updated my graphics drivers. Before that it was perfect, so it seems to be a driver issue too.
I've had no success with other (newer) drivers, and don't really want to go back to the older ones. Points is, transparency is not unavoidable under vista. Let me know if you have any luck.
Btw, my install is on a nvidia 8600M GT, 169.09 drivers. F4AF ran perfectly under older 150-something drivers

Indeed. I am most grumpy, because not only is the player's jet transparent in external views, but so are other planes. And to make things better, when they dip below the horizon, i.e. are seen against the ground, they disappear completely. My AF is completely unplayable, and RV is so unstable it is hardly a viable alternative.
I shall now proceed to become a paper-plane driver. When is LP's next sim out?
What's really annoying is that it is probably such an easy issue to fix

I hope LP takes a look at making AF Vista compatible, once they get through the relevent portions in their next sim.
Vista is not like moving from Win95 to Win98 or Win2000 to WinXP. Vista is analagous to moving from Win3.1 to Win95. I'd wait until the rest of the development community catches up and Vista receives a few Service Packs.

I swear everytime a vista-problem pops up the smart comments start flying For the sake of argument assume a dual boot with XP is not possible; the OP is obviously running in Vista and needs a Vista fix, not another OS.

Little searching here and at FW and I found http://forums.frugalsworld.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=1395845&postcount=54 I don't know if this will help but it sounds promising. If you want the other searches that I found check http://forums.frugalsworld.com/vbb/search.php?searchid=1025144

Pfff, Vista, crap, crap, crap... "hides under table" Vista, whats vista lol Yup Vista will probably be an a$$-kicker .................in around 6 months or so........but not right now. Till then stick with XP, SP3 is suppose to be released around Jan-Feb 08 . Suppose to increase XP's performance by about 10%.

I had Vista and an ATI x1950 that exhibited the Wonder Woman invisible texture jet.
Recently, Ive moved to Vista and nVidia 8600GT-OC @ 512MB and no more texture problems, this with x8 AA, MP and all the other trimmings turned on.
The nVidia 8600GT-OC I got at the local Best Buys for $200. Yes an expensive fix, but I had other reasons to upgrade that made it worth it at this price.

Update: So far testing of RC 1.0.13 with regard to Vista/ATI transparency issues has been very positive. We still have more testing in other area's but it is looking good.

Ed Hi Ed, thanks for the update. Have you heard of intermitting failure to draw canopy. It's aspect related from in the pit and external view. NVIDIA 8600M GT Vista laptop.
