Land of the Rising Sun
Hello hello,
In case anyone remembers, I AM still working on a Phoney War and Battle of France campaign played from the RAF's point of view. Progress is slow due to RL, PC problems and other distaractions. Anyway, I have completed the Phoney War missions, the final missions and some of the actual BOF ones but there's still a fair bit more to do. I then have to go through and fix all the skins which I lost when I got my new PC. However, the campaign will be out some day in the not too remote future.
I've had a great time playing around with Dunkirk and all the smoke effects plus time of day and weather settings to simulate the all-pervasive gloom of the scene. The chaos of equipment, ships, explosions are all in the missions - I hope you'll like the effect.

Here are some pictures to whet the appetite.
Hurri and Spit skins are by kristorf.

Note: I edited the cannon out.

This last pic was from a BOF mission I played yesterday. Couldn't believe my eyes when it happened. I fired just one short burst from close range into the Heinkel's belly/wingroot and the whole plane just exploded! Must have hit the bomb bay or something. Or maybe it was just the uber-303's again -wish Oleg would tone them down!

Cheers guys. Yeah, I spent lots of effort getting lighting and weather right. I tried making a column of smoke but it just looked stupid, especially when it suddenly appeared all at once due to the short view distances, so I just decided to add comments in the briefings and adjust the environment.

Detroit - in the Danger Zone!
If you're looking for a few more Hurri skins for the campaign, this one has a rather good (in this one's opinion ;\) ) template that hasn't seen any action in quite some time. Having a go at some BoF-era skins would be...refreshing. \:\)

With all due respect to Kristorf, of course.

Indeed, the problem is that the 8x303's would be as weak as those on the Hurricane.

Hi again,
Thanks for the offer Goodwood but I really like the colour palette Kris uses - really suits the rich colours of the Kurland map. I did check out the link you gave me in the other thread though and plundered a few different skins.

DanP - thank you.

About the Spit - in SOW:BOB it'll take some time getting used to the lack of cannons for many players. After months of flying the Hurri while I make this campaign I'm used to the armament (and general performance) so it's such a thrill to then change to a 'hot' ride like a 1940 Emil.

Kris - do you still have those special skins you made for me? Unfortunately I lost them when I switched to my new PC. If you don't have them then don't worry. Having played around with Mat Manager again I've actually settled on markings that look okay for this era so may just use the blanks (which I still have)for all planes.

Thanks guys. Kristorf - thanks for the link. I'd actually been to M4T and FL a couple of days ago, found that pack and downloaded it but could have sworn it didn't have the marked versions in it. I redownloaded it just now and of course there they are, just as I wanted. Maybe I chose the wrong link or something the first time. There are two of different sizes I notice.
BTW -I wasn't able to extract the other file named "478_Hurricane_Skin_Pack_73-Sqn_RAF". Just gave me error messages.

Very nice!

You could release into the wild a sampler mission to say an online squadron who are mostly flying RAF this week, community spirit thing being the festive season. And if moral blackmail doesn't work we'll duff him up

Odd, I just downloaded it with no problems...

Both folders contain the same skins, one is a rar file, the other a zip

I'm saying-

In reply to the original poster's header "Some pics from my Dunkirk missions"

Sorry if that wasn't clear Chris. When I talk to someone other than the original poster I generally make that clear not to create misunderstandings. Oops too late

Anyway FlatSpinMan any movement on this sampler mission <runs away>

Ming

Hi Ming, can't think why I've not sent it out already. Been dragging my feet terribly old chap.Lucky for me you were kind enough to remind me. Send me your email address and I'll send a mission or two. You'll have to monkey around with them abit to adapt them to co-ops, including checking arming loadouts, flight paths etc. You may also need to add flights as lots of the player's missions have just one flight. Feel free to play around with them though. If it works, send it back and I'll include it in the zip file when I upload it.
One more thing - lots of objects on the map. Loooooooooooots of objects. Strangely, Dunkirk isn't so bad but the main map template has thousands of things on it.
