I grabbed the Crysis demo and had to get the beta drivers that went with them, ensuring I had a restore point and convinced they would hose up my lovingly tweaked 1946.

Wow-oh-wow, am I keeping these drivers. A really, really big jump in fps with max settings (including SLI), no black circle woes, and everying just dead sexy.

Give them a try - I am truly amazed at the improvements (XP SP2, 7900's in SLI).

That's the 169.01 driver? I've tried other 1xx drivers and never found them to be of a real benefit to my NV 7950 GT, but if they are better on your 7900's, then perhaps these are worth a try.

Watching with real interest. I also have a NV 7950 GT.
I'm using the NGO drivers and like them, however...
Please post your findings.

RDDR, I'm using the 297.92 NGO, I was waiting for you to try them and tell us!

stans,
I downloaded them and was about ready to give them a shot when a little bird landed on my shoulder and said "Dont mess with the NGO's if they aint broke".
I'm decided to follow his advice as the NGO's have been really good drivers.

I think that same bird visited with me as well.

I updated my graphic drivers from 84.xx to one of the 160 series for my 7800GS+.

Then '46 wouldn't start from the DVD drive.

I assumed (wrongly) it was a Securom issue and spent two days going round in circles getting very frustrated.

Eventually I sussed what the problem was and sorted it by uninstalling '46, installing new graphic drivers (I settled on the NGO optimised 9792), then reinstalling '46.

I'm afraid I didn't do a real comparison, but I have installed the Crysis drivers and don't see any noticable difference on my 8800 GTS.

I'm CPU bound though, with an E6300.

I wish I'd taken that bird's advice! My AA and AF settings now have no effect at all.

Rewind....

Tried both the 169.01 and 169.09 with my GeForce 7900GS TOP. The latter was by far the fastest with AVG 6 more FPS then the 162.18. Forests shimmered like mad though and the water =2 had also some kind of shimmering. This with 16xAF 4xAA. I figured it had to do with the LOD bias but whatever I tried with nHancer or nVHardPage, I could not get rid of it. With LOD bias Allow setting the drivers were 6 FPS faster than with the Clamp setting with which the speed was comparable with the 162.18 drivers. The 169.01 gave me massive stuttering, had the same shimmering problems as the 169.09 and were not nearly as fast.

I decided after that to try out the NGO drivers I heard so much about and decided on the 1.16.218. I find them to be the best that I've tried so far. IQ is very good and the speed is about 3.5 FPS higher than the 162.18.

I am using XP home by the way.

Hope this is of any use...
