How about kharkov 42'? (Winter) 2.SS and/or LSSAH?

Have you thought about Metz? Or the 83rd infantry division in St. Malo? Pretty big fight against the 77 infantrie div.

OK, I'll see later this week if I can get the whole thing out the door in the near future - if not I'll get those units done for you.

Talking about maps, have you seen the 'Battle Zone Normandy' series of books? They have quite highly detailed maps of some of the areas you've mentioned - take a look through Amazon's 'look inside' feature and you'll see some cropped examples on the back covers (unfortunately you can't look through the entire book).

Have fun
Finn

Much info about damage model will be provided in modelers guide, which english version i've completed today and BFC should provide a link to it soon. Here is a screenshot from it showing collision shapes for Tiger tank, through these shapes unit interacts with world, receive damage, etc. These shapes must follow visible mesh closely for physical interaction to be accurate:

'Skyscrapers' inside the turret are crew members, there are two more which are inclined at the front representing sitting driver and bow MG gunner. There are separate collision objects for internal components such as ammo racks, gear box, transmission, engine, etc. All they have 'stability', can be damaged, engine may catch fire, etc. Various effects such as internal armor spalling during near penetrations are modeled as well.

Wow - a modeler's guide? Now that is news!

Is the intention for there to be a full SDK (ie plugins etc provided) or will it be like the IL2 series where models are placed in the game by the developers?

Have fun

It depends on popularity. For now converting player-created models into game format will be done by us, but maybe we'll provide converters (they are not so intuitive to use) if demand will be high.
BTW, what model will you like to have in MAX format as example? We plan to provide one along with the guide.

Wow! Now I'm impressed!

The modellers guide sounds totally cool, just what's needed.

Lets keep the momentum up here guys the game needs some well deserved good press. As soon as we have ToW clans in MP things will really get hot.

Speaking personally, I'd rather see a sample that incorporated as many different things as possible (eg connection points for towing, passengers, turrets, crew) - but obviously not all can be shown in one example model so priority should be given to something that might be tricky to do (I guess your team will know which to pick!). Others might want something that would be usable as a basis for lots of other models as a starting point - a German half-track or maybe a Panzer III or IV (for the chassis) makes sense there. I guess it'd be ideal if a model could be picked that would satisfy both needs.

An infantry, artillery and (especially) a building model in addition to the AFV model would be good too btw if you're feeling generous. In any case I think it'd be best to ask on the official forums as well as here.

Have fun

Halo 3 and World in Conflict, as well as QW:ET and Medal of Honor have all been released recently, which has probably already had an effect on numbers playing and due to MP in ToW being below expectations, I am currently playing WiC, but will return to ToW on release of the patch. I will probably stick with ToW if the MP is good (and there is a player base that makes it possible to actually get a match more easily) so I am happy to see the investment of time and effort into what is an excellent game.

Been crashing the game alot recently

Working on Operation Jupiter engagements really finding the edges at the moment. Here's the latest testing pics...

All of the battles have random elements so the missions need lots of testing to ensure nothing is FUBAR. Adds an element of replayability to the campaign.

Not yet but I do plan to use new skins, off the top of my head these are the skins I want to use:-

Camo smocks for SS Panzer Grenadiers.
British Army skins for Sherman & M3 White HT ideally with the correct unit markings.
Correct camo & unit skins for I & II SS Panzer Corps.

I'd also add some new units to the wish list, mainly 17lber AT Gun & Achilles TD (M10 with 17lber).

I also still have a lot of work to do on briefing maps etc.

Gnasher, your game may crash sometimes because of you're near statics limit (statics are trees, bushes, houses, fences, etc. combined).

I've found it more to do with units. Out of interest what are the static & unit limits?

250 active units (units with icons) at any moment maximum, you and enemy combined.

Statics themselves don't crash the game, but slow it down. What may crash pathfinding system is a many (MANY) high detailed areas. It's much better to create dense but small 'clusters' of statics than evenly distribute statics on the whole map. Pathfinding will work much better with dense 100x100m area (village) and empty 100x100m field nearby than 100x200m area of evenly distributed statics.

About units - 250 limit doesn't mean you can just add 100 tanks to you and 100 to enemy:) Imagine what will happen when they'll begin knock each other out and surviving crews will start to bail out:) 1 unit - tank - will become 4-5 units each because of bailed out crew:)

Another small update.....

I've been doing alot of research into the real battles & found a nice incident at Cheux during Operation Epsom involving the Duke of Cornwalls Light Infantry the regiment you will be fighting with in the campaign. So Ive modded the StMere Eglise map.........

Infantry moving through the streets

Battalion HQ

There's a lot of work still to do but its coming together slowly but surely

Gnasher, it looks promising so far....

Can you share already some info about this "incident at Cheux during Operation Epsom"?? Without spoiling the scenario of course.

Uwe

Sure

On 27th June 1944 11th Scottish Div's defensive positions were relieved at Cheux by the 43rd Wessex Div. The 43rd were a TA Div with no prior battle experience but extremely well trained by their commander Gen G I "Butcher" Thomas. 5th Btn Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry (5 DCLI) set up HQ just south of the town.

Also on that day, a Kampfegruppe of I Btn of 3rd Panzer Regt 2nd "Wien" Panzer Div was transfered from Panzer Lehr in the west to the eastern side of the battle under the command of Panzermeyer's 12th SS. Most of the battalion bypassed Cheux, however no less than 6 Panthers managed to infilitrate as far as 5 DCLI's battalion HQ without a shot being fired. The Panthers promptly started to shoot the HQ to sh!t. They were engaged at close quarters with PIATs & grenades with 5 Panthers being destroyed & the 6th withdrawing heavily damaged.

Thus 5 DCLI were the talk of VIII Corps, the Wessex weekend warriors had destroyed 5 enemy main battle tanks & sent another packing in close quarter battle within hours of arriving on the battlefield.

Should make a good 1st mission I think ;\)
