I went away for almost a week and didn't check any of the forums. See there has been absolutely no activity here, and very little activity on the BFC forums. Is anyone even playing this any more? Seems like on the BFC forums, the few posts there are mostly people wishing for things.

I don't think a developer has posted in over three weeks.

All gone a bit stagnant hasn't it. The release of CMSF will probably be the final nail in TOWs coffin, unless the few dedicated souls in the modding community are able to rekindle interest in it. However, after TOW, I'll be giving the CMSF demo a long hard look before making any quick decisons to purchase it.

I'm still playing & having fun with the editors & mods.

The saddest thing is that BFC seem to either not read their own forum or are too frightened to release any info, or just plain don't care. Looking at the 1C forum, there is alot of activity going on with new campaigns & units in the pipeline.

Doing bits and bobs, but a house move straddled by a holiday on either side means I don't have much time to devote to it at the moment. Activity is definitely trailing off now after a bit of a blip a few weeks ago, but you do still see the occasional dev posts in the tech support forum - which is a long way away from the Russian forums where little bits of info and discussions involving the devs seem fairly regular. It's pretty obvious that BFC will be devoting their time and resources to CMSF, but it's odd that no-one from them or 1C can't at least repeat some of the stuff from the Dev diaries.

ToW is a fairly good (but still flawed) game as it stands now post-patch, but I think they've shot themselves in the foot with the mission design in the campaigns. They're unbalanced and as such force you to adopt single strategies in order to win - which doesn't make them great for replaying. It's a good thing it's wide open to modding - which is where I'll be devoting most of my time until more campaigns start appearing (and they will I'm sure - I'm less sure about how long that will take though).

Have fun
Finn

Also, where are all the user made scenarios? I see less than 10 on CMMODS, but for all the talk of this game being saved by the community, I see little community support.

btw, I don't consider 3 or 4 guys committed to developing a few mods much of a community.

I haven't played this disappointing clunker in weeks, too tedious and boring.

It's still on my hard drive, awaiting the next patch to see if I flush it or not.

I won't purchase CMSF until I can play a demo, and will probably wait till there is feed back on the final release before buying.

Battlefront lost any respect I had for them with this game, and the way they treated those who complained.

My gut feeling is CMSF isn't going to be all it is cracked up to be either.

I am still spending my ~2-5 weekly gaming hours with ToW. You see it is not alot of time I have on my hands for gaming, but I am happy with ToW so far. There is still the need of improvement in the actual game - but for me the main area of improvement has to be the mission design. Neither do I have the time nor the knowledge to dig into the mission editor.... Hopefully there will be better missions coming from 1c or the (right now) very small community in the future. FinnN - I am counting on you ;\)

CMSF is unfortunately nothing for me - modern warfare is as interesting to me as online fishing. So the maximum will be that I take a sneak peak in the demo to get an idea what is ahead for a hopefully coming CMx2 WW2.

So far then ToW it is for me until..... maybe the sequel to Panzer Command: Operation Winter Storm comes out.
Kharkov
I have not played PC:OWS because after reading in there forums I came to the conclusion that there is sill some way to go for it.... maybe this is the distance needed.

Lets see, someone who doesnt like the game creates a topic called "Who's still playing" .
Yep no way he could have an agenda lol, one should think the game came out a year or two ago.
I pretty much agree with what Mr. Reichenberg posted, I'm enjoying TOW as well, though I liked
the first 3 CM games, I have no use for games like CMSF that attempts to simulate what ifs, and works of fiction. I like to play historical wargames and simulations.

I am still playing it! And after the CM:SF disaster i will play it for a long time because here is no other choice if you want a good ground-warfare RTS on this scale.

People who compare TOW with CM:SF maybe should compare CM:SF with the strategical part of SBProPE and then they will see how crappy CM:SF really is \:D

Haven't touch this utter garbage since awhile before the patch came out.

It's died the death it richly deserved.

Serves the incompatant liars right.

I'm still playing. I have no idea why though. It's a frustrating and irritating experience.

Like Il2, this game is ruined by AI. At least Il2 has the excuse of being a highly complex flight sim.

I am playing the German campaign and am on the Falaise pocket mission. 75% (I have counted) of the time my Tiger's gun gets blown up by tanks which can't even see the fricking Tiger because I've hidden it behind trees in low terrain. (I checked and they can't see it). Yet they blow it's gun more than any other part. Not the tracks, not the skirting. The gun barrel. Was the mantle especially weak in the Tiger?

And where are the MG42s?

And why is there no air attack in the so-called Falaise pocket mission?

Uninstall coming up. Game seems to be dying on its feet.

2lb floater, lol. Too true.

Well That's a gratuitous assertion, and any gratuitous assertion may be equally gratuitously denied.

I have noticed since the patch the Tiger I especially seems to lose its main gun very quickly, making it totally useless. It is very frustrating. I think 1C may need to review whatever they changed in this area and change it back \:\) I agree the levels can get very frustrating and some have been poorly constructed, but there are some gems in amongst them which for me make the game better than any I have played in its genre. BTW, if you want to highlight the problem with the guns on the tanks being statistically higher than they should, load Steel Torrent and play that - it was ifficult on veteran before the patch, now in about 20 attempts I have succeeded only twice in winning - below is a video I made of my last attempt where I had one Tiger II left and I 'toured' the battlefield to show the carnage, before concluding the battle \:\)

Flak, the same few people were downing the game before it was even released, some have a personal agenda against BFC, others genuinely do not like the game as it is not meeting their expectations which is fair enough. Its not difficult to spot who is who \:\)

I was going to post some qualifications to my moan.

I've had some very good fights with this game - Dunkirk I thought was a very good mission. Realistic? I don't know but it was good, same with the Army Group North mission; very good.

I have no agenda against the guys who made this game - this is my first Battlefront product - in fact I see great potential in this game. In its current guise though I find it more often irritating and frustrating than it is fun.

neat video btw, must have been some battle.

Are there any good missions around for the game I could get my hands on?

That's a Tiger 1, no?

Thanks, it was a tiger II and it had 8 kills I think (including the 2 at the end). It had took a pounding but even at the end it was the damage to the main gun that stopped it \:\( and I think all the tiger I and panthers bar 1 were damaged in a similar way before being taken out.

It is my favourite map but since the patch I have struggled to win on it on veteran, I am up to 4 in about 30 attempts now and this is down to luck I think \:\) (even on easy it is not so easy)

Things are definately on the up with the existing & several new mods coming soon. On top of Oudy's excellent new vehicles there is a russian lend lease mod, FinnN's german camo, ROFL's new buildings & new infantry groups etc etc. I can see things getting better in the near future.

I just wish the editor was easier to develop missions in, I'm finding testing new missions very time consuming......
