Well after nearly a whole weekend of pulling my hair out I can say that neither EECH or EE2 works with the softTH program - damn and blast!

EECH doesn't even generate a softTH log file (probabaly because it is pre DX8/9) and although EE2 does generate a log file, the extra resolutions are not available in the display settings...

Oh and if you are thinking about using MaxiVista on Vista to display your HUD don't as it is not supported!

Plus apparently my new PCI-E ATI x1650 Pro can only run a max of 3 800x600 screens on the Matrox TripleHead2Go.

Ah well its either a projector or a big screen if you want large screens in either of the above...

Cheers

Hi m8,
I only have XP myself, but the Maxivista website does claim that it works with Vista, (with some limitations, though). Are you using the latest version?
Cheers,
DD

Yes only downloaded the demo on Friday... As soon as I installed it Vista Home disabled the driver automatically.

1/ Well, I'm afraid that SoftTH or the Matrox TH based hw won't work properly with EECH1 because of the old GX code which can't render/address the area as large as that. Someone has to try it in EECH2 though! I've posted some questions few months about those widerscreen resolutions (before the EECH2release) and TH "support" in general at their forum (at SimHQ) and got positive response but haven't tested it or seen it personally.

2/ As mentioned before ATI hw just can't work at max TH resolutions (3840x960 32bpp), this is a known bug and limititaion of ATI platform, which seems to persist even with the latest gen. There are some crazies with even higher resolutions (3x full HD!) by utilizing 2x 8800GTX (nvidia) cards..

3/ For general questions google more about SofTH setup either via ATI or Nvidia there are several forums about it..

PS I'm using SofTH in Rfactor (the best racing sim) and it apparently works in Lockon and FS flight simulators as well..
