I don't believe it's even Oleg, the English is constructed very differently to Olegs normal style and why does he refer to himself in the third person at the start?

Yes I would have wanted to know what improvements there are to rendering. Will there be High Dynamic Range lighting and environment mapping. So you can see your ugly mug in the fuselage I mention no names nixer. Volumetric light and smoke. Must have battlefield smoke this time. And self-shadowing and have you fixed the trees so we are in Southern England not Norway and turned the houses around so we can find our own bloody front doors And stuff Ming

Thanks Dolph
It was an interesting read even if I wasn't sure it was authentic when I first read it. Unfortunately...at this point there a far more burning questions. Did he give you any hint on the progress of BOB?

Did he give you any hint on the progress of BOB? lol @ burning questions I can't tell more than what Oleg has said, but I guess a good hint lies in his replies about how complex is BoB going to be and how much time this takes. Adding to this info the various requests for information of BoB period objects that we see in SimHQ forum and other places and then you can do the math In any case, the happy news are that he is working only on BoB and that he already flies it I'm so happy that BoB is going to be a brand new sim and not only an expansion of IL-2 series!

Yes...complicated is an understatment...I can't imagine how difficult its going to be maintain flyable framerates with atleast a few hundred aircraft, changing weather systems, and state of the art terrain graphic, etc.
We are in for a treat if it all comes together.

Interesting that he says WW1 is easier to produce than WW2.
I suppose there's just less variety of everything.

You see I have my doubts about this. I can't imagine that Oleg would just throw all his existing code in the bin and start again, that makes no sense. We've already got the new FM code in the IL2 engine and things like the current fighter AI code will probably get recycled as well. I've been trying some BOB stylee QMB matchups recently, 109E v Hurri etc and the way the AI handles the different aircraft is much better than it used to be. I've got this feeling that BOB will feel very much like a highly polished IL2 when it comes out which will please some and disappoint others.

I hope you are kidding about the AI!!!! I'm PRAYING they redo the AI from scratch. Ive seen DOS games with better AI. 10,000 foot zoom climbs without energy loss... continual negative G maneuvers while GAINING energy. Your wingmen shooting you down while trying to kill the bandit YOU'RE shooting at. Flying INTO you because the feel they have to fly 50 feet from you at ALL times, even during high G dogfights. Not listening to commands. And the list goes on and on and on. After the number of years this sim has been around, and the AI still doing these things. Thats rough. It was mentioned, Oleg said you had to give them an advantage to make it "fun". There's nothing fun about AI planes doing things they shouldn't be able to do. We should be able to fly to our aircrafts strengths, and not have AI doing things they shouldn't be able to do. It would be nice to boom and zoom with the P51 or P38.. but the AI "advantages" make that nearly impossible. You BOOM, and he gets a supercharger out the wazoo to catch up to you when he shouldn't. Along with setting them on ace... they take a shot at you and its a pilot kill. Sorry, the whole sniper thing is ridiculous in itself. For the masses that do nothing but dogfight it doesn't matter. But for the many of us that play COOP mostly, the AI really drags down the game itself. Granted, its the best out there overall, but the AI really gives it a black eye. I heard that at the least, the AI wont be able to see through clouds any more..that will be quite nice! Now I just hope all the other stuff gets worked on. It would be nice to be able to dive away from a Zero in a Corsair again.
