Mirage IIIEA after being beaten up by two Royal Navy Harriers whilst on CAP prior to main Argentine strike force - afternoon of 1st May, 1982.

Taken from set of WIP missions depicting Argentine response to British attacks.

I've decided to entitle this picture "Harrier Food"

1,435 Sea Harrier sorties & 1 shot down by AAA. Such an unlikely event it hardly seems worth modelling. \:\) \:\)

Still eagerly awaiting the release to try it though.

I think in other way, if it happens at least once and the mod is true to the story it HAVE to be modeled... don´t tell me harriers in MOD are invincible I will don´t believe that... also I don`t believe that the Invincible carrier was that "invincible" in reality... in the future the actual classified archives will be finally open.

here too awaiting for the release for finally try it all!

Hi folks, from the previous set of missions I've done depicting the morning raids on Stanley on 1st May the "Kid on the Karst"* at Stanley can be quite effective. I'll re-run a few sets and see if I can get a shot of a Harrier getting Arty'd. It does happen occasionally.

*Read a definition of the "Kid" here...http://www.shepgroup.com/Kid%20on%20the%20Karst.htm

Here are a few more from the 1st May missions (AM & PM)...in no particular order...

First, the luckiest man in the Falklands. Remember the guy in Iraq (1991) when they videoed bombing that bridge just after the car went over it? Well, this one was at Goose Green in 1982 in a T-34...

Enroute to the Islands from the mainland...

Evening landing of a pair of Daggers after their long bombing mission on the afternoon of 1st May...

Successful bombing mission off the coast, South of Stanley airfield...HMS Arrow in trouble...

Canberra trouble over the main British fleet, East of the Islands on the afternoon of 1st May...

What the wingman saw...

Regards, P.T. (comrpnt)

Aaahhhh yes, the good old Argie fairy tale about how the Invincible was hit, some say even sunk It's a nice bedtime story but (un)fortunately, never happened: there are enough hard facts and war stories around available to anyone - unlike crazy conspiracy theories supported only by thin air - to challenge the myth \:\)

Anyway, let's not start a flame war here, once the mod is available (hopefully soon) there will be plenty of opportunities to shoot down Sea Harriers or Mirages or sinking aircraft carriers I must say again, I can't wait for this mod to be done!!!!

Did a Canberra really get shot down?

W.r.t the Canberra being shot down, yes, I think so. Certainly for the mission I'm working on I set up the strike, give it target coordinates and set it going. The AI takes care of the rest, including the effectiveness of the SAMS. Most of the mission is AI controlled apart from the Player's aircraft. You can opt to be any one of the roles within the mission.

The activity available to you is drawn from the following list of things all going on within the timeframe of the mission...

1. 2 x Mirage IIIEA on pre-strike CAP
2. 6 x IAI-Dagger on mission to bomb British bombardment fleet
3. 6 x Canberra B2 on mission to bomb main British carrier group
4. 1 x KC-130 tanker, tracking East-West North of Islands
5. 1 x A-4C Skyhawk based at Port Stanley, responding to Naval bombardment
6. 2 x RN Harrier intercepting Canberra CAP flight inbound to main British fleet
7. 1 x RN Harrier intercepting Mirage flight
8. 1 x RN Harrier intercepting Dagger flight

I've made it as close to what actually happened as I can but it's a game after all, so you have to allow for the variances of the AI behaviour. Sometimes you get hit by Arty, SAMS or an enemy aircraft and sometimes you don't. It certainly makes it fun to watch the scenario being played out.

See here http://www.naval-history.net/F34opsweek5.htm for a detailed Historical evaluation and data -- including references to a Canberra getting shot down and some other losses incurred.

It was already confirmed as a complete freeware mod (few posts above) but I confirm it again... This mod is an example of SFP1 modders cooperation. There are too much people involve that if we want it to be a payware, It would be very expensive \:D ( If I say 5 bucks by modders, the mod will cost you at least 60 bucks \:\) )
