Hi guys,

Any advice on using TrackIR with this game? I have a TrackIR 2 which works straight out the box with the demo, but have trouble keeping track of where my head, gun and feet are pointing! Are there any mods which place a crosshair or marker in the direction your body is facing? The on-screen HUDesque gunsight is a help but not always easily visible!

Ideally, I want to see which way the body is facing, and arrows showing where my (approximate) aimpoint has gone if it's gone off-screen.

I suppose the existing setup will work better with practise though! Hoping the full version arrives tomorrow...

Currently there is no added crosshairs for your viewpoint, but it has been fowarded to BIS as something that would be nice in a future update.

With practice you will get a better feel. Keeping the sensor on the plane of your head is very important for good tracking. They say you can have 30 degrees but I'd try to be inside ten for the best response.

Enjoy, I am,

I have to say (using TIR3 Pro) that after you get used to it, it feels very natural. If I feel I'm getting disoriented I just center my head and then recenter the track IR. I also find the weapon aiming reticule very helpful just for that reason--orientation. It lets me know where my 'center' is.

I love being able to look left and right, scanning for enemy, while still running straight ahead. I think that's one of the biggest advantages to using TIR--situational awareness. It took a while to get used to, but now I don't like playing without it.

Just my 0.02.

Cheers - I am getting the hang of it, but the floating aimpoint doesn't make things much easier - my feet are running in one direction, my gun is pointing in another, and my head facing a something else!

I cant get use to it when running around.. for walking and while in vehicles its fine... sadly I have one of them original Track IR's.. from when I had to order it from the States as no one over here had them! and its fussy about what it tracks... if the sun is out and shining, then the window handles appear to get tracked more than the dots on my mic boom.... which is a pain... lol

I'd recommend covering the window handles with something non-reflective. A sock perhaps? It would look really really weird to have socks on your windowhandles, but, if it works... \:\)

I attached one of the large dots to a small piece of paper, which I then blu-tac'd to my forehead. Wasn't the ideal system. Now I've sellotaped the paper to a piece of string which I tie around my head like a bandana. Works quite well but must keep hair out of the way!
